Sorry to hear you're experiencing this. I hope your association is not trying to charge you for the common pipe. I made this video so you can share it and show they can't take advantage of the person on the lowest level like mine tried to do. They were likely in with the plumber who either didn't understand plumbing or was lying to me. I didn't give in and fought but they finally saw it my way. You'll need the association to clear the pipe whenever you see water backing up into your sink.

This is happening on my lower level apartment with two floors above me.. my kitchen sink backs up with their waste water twice a week... management has snaked the line twice but its still happening. I assume theres a bigger issue in the main drain/stack that needs adressing. 🙄
@LuxManorRealEstate
@LuxManorRealEstate 3 ай бұрын
Yes, there is likely a bigger issue with the pipe and they're not properly cleaning it when they snake it. Maybe there are 2 clogs and they stop at the first. It's also possible that the people upstairs are putting things down the pipes like coffee grounds, pasta, rice, and grease. These can create big problems for the community. Your association may want to send a camera down the pipe to see what is the blockage and/or make sure the neighbors are responsible with their waste. Hope this helps.

So, how do you keep water from coming in from a system like this?
@LuxManorRealEstate
@LuxManorRealEstate 4 ай бұрын
The only way is to keep the waste pipes clear. This may be outside of your control if you are in a condo building and share a waste stack. Someone above you may clog the pipe and flood your unit. If you can block your drain, the water will go up a floor but this is not a long term solution.

@LuxManorRealEstate is a good enough solution. At least my kitchen won't keep flooding with the above floors waste water.

Electric only dryer not mention here. No I would not use this method unless you are interested in lowering the efficiency of your dryer. Who uses their dryer enough to recoup any savings. The amount of lint as noted by having to clean your lint filter every cycle, more work then it is worth. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Problem...there is no simple bypass for this device. It should have come with an internal flap to engage/disengage the vent. This can't be used inline with your outside vent without adding something else.

Correct. One needs to detach from the vent and connect to the dryer vent line that goes outside. Update on findings tomorrow.

It would be nice if you did a follow up video measuring the particulate count comparing a few different filters. I remain very skeptical as filter media is usually folded into pleats which both increases the surface area and interrupts the path of the particles (look up brownian motion). I agree the filter appears to be dirty, but that does not tell us anything about it's performance.

@jonathanbell9349
@jonathanbell9349 2 жыл бұрын
@@SujitKumar-tr1kz What you bought is definitely not to silicone a shower. That's some kind of sealant, maybe to seal a crack in a boat or something. No wonder you weren't happy with it. I always use Nuflex 302 Translucent silicone. Try googling that. I recommend watching Sal Diblasi channel on how to silicone. You want a tiny bead of silicone, make sure your tile is clean and dry, apply a steady bead of silicone, then get a spray bottle with water and a few drops of dish soap, spray around where you applied the bead of silicone, then use your finger and push into the joint and slide your finger all the way down. You're going to want to have a paper towel to wipe the excess silicone off your finger every 6-12 inches so it doesn't build up and smear on the tile, but that's where the soapy water helps prevent the excess silicone from sticking to the tile. Good luck
@LuxManorRealEstate

I agree: you should caulk (verb) your shower with silicone. When I go to a hardware store or shop online, I see the product advertised as "caulk based silicone" or "silicone caulk". The one we want for showers will likely say kitchen and baths. We can use non-silicone caulk like acrylic caulk on places like bedroom baseboards. It's up to the individual if they want clear, white, or some other color depending on the shower. There are plenty of good brands out there but I learned that they do expire in time. I tried to use an older tube and it didn't go well. Thanks for the clarification to specify it should be silicone caulk in the shower.

You may need to open the wall behind the drain or ceiling below the drain (on the floor below) to see what is going on. This is hard if your drain is in the basement and on an exterior wall with tile on the inside. If you do install such a vent check with your local codes. Where I live, it can even be installed within a wall, provided it is accessible. Does the drain ever smell bad after a short period of time with no water coming through? Do you have photos of when the work was done? The noise is generally not the problem. The sewer gasses coming through are what we're trying to avoid. Hope this helps!
