Are these benefits in your VA contracts? I can see PTO, but bonuses like the 13th month too?

yes, we use these benefits in our contract. If a person stays with me for 12 months and excels at their KPIs (doesn't just do the bare minimum), we offer the 13th month salary. You don't have to, but this is something my team looks forward to

It's fair advice although, I've met some real lazy people that don't want anything else in their job description.

a hire is an investment. If you like what you're getting out of their work for the effort/money you invest in your team, then it's fine. If they are producing well and are happy in their role, I'd leave it at that. I wouldn't risk losing someone good at their job over a "maybe" that there's someone better out there. If you're not happy with the work they produce, that's different.
