Say what you will about the Hobbit but it gave us the "why the halfling?" scene between Galadriel and Gandalf. It's such a beautiful moment.

I dont understand how this video isnt one of the most watched on youtube. You dont have to be a LOTR fan to understand the message. This video is a masterpiece!

The fact that none of the quotes mentions 'Ian Mckellen' but only 'Gandalf' shows both are synonymous..

Merry has to be the only hobbit he didn't have a deep moment with. Tbh he was quite mature even then. Frodo and Pippin gained hope and Sam and Bilbo gained courage.

An incredible character. One of my favourites! Sir Ian was the perfect casting, and the only person I accept as being Gandalf on the screen. Tremendous performance, what a guy!

Gandalf’s words to Frodo in Moria are even more heartwarming when you keep in mind his backstory. In the hierarchy of Ainur/Angels, good old Olorin isn’t in any way a big player. You won’t find him fighting in some epic First Age battle or anything like that. He is, pretty much… just a normal guy. A “heavenly Hobbit”, if you will. He was terrified when the Valar picked him to lead the charge against Sauron, just like Frodo was when fate chose him as the Ring Bearer. Only in time they both found in themselves the courage to live up to their true potential. So, when Gandalf speaks those words to Frodo, it’s not just divine wisdom he’s been given by default: it’s his own experience. He gets exactly how Frodo feels, because he himself once felt the same way. He himself would have rather stayed safe in Valinor, just like Frodo would have rather stayed safe in the Shire. But it was not up to him to decide. All he could decide was what to do with the time that was given to him.

The truth in real life is it’s good vs bad 😔breaks my heart to see everyone suffer, why is that someone does good to save the world and it’s people he gets killed, one that poisons the people kills ruins everything in it’s path for the better of evil lives on, we gotta shine over this problem in this world for the better of good 😇❤️✊🏽 together we find each other become the light as all of us shining over all evil ❤ I love every single one of you out there 😇❤️ I prey for you remember that ❤ you mean lots to this world far more than you can imagine ❤ pandemic or evilness or not we gotta shine over it together ❤

Viggo and Bernard Hill nail this scene on a level that really nothing in the trilogy equals. I love that- -when aragorn says 'ride out and meet them' you can see he doesn't have a plan, the look in his eyes is he doesn't even quite know why he's suggesting it, it just sounds right to him. - in three lines of dialogue theoden does a total 180. Initially he's despairing and barely paying attention, then aragorn's crazy-brave suggestion immediately draws his attention, then as soon as he hears 'for your people' he's 100% theoden king again. And 'Let this be the hour when we draw swords together' hits so hard because in that moment he understands who Aragorn is, and he's not theoden saying that to his bro, he's the king of rohan talking to the king of gondor with all the weight of history behind that line.

In Jesus we are given that promise of Gandalf. Fellowship with the One who formed us. The white shores of a distant country. Life everlasting. Encourages us to lay down our lives for our friends like Sam. That all we can do in this terrible time is to choose what to do with it. The best choice we could make is to turn to Him. In Him there is peace and rest. Bless you guys
