Even less fun in a 24' yacht. We had to carefully turn and run down the waves until we were south of them before heading east. All because I miscounted the yellow buoys!

I'd say it was a good recovery and good to see that you didn't have a knot in the tail of the halyard.........which could have spiced things up a bit!!!

How about letting the jib out? Every puff when overpowered and the jib in is going to make it impossible to turn downwind and you round up.
@paulkircher9542
@paulkircher9542 2 жыл бұрын
@@robertkowalski9906obviously you have never tried to duck a boat in big breeze without the jib going out. Nothing worse than a jib trimmer getting an override on the winch and the jib doesn't go out... It usually results in a t-bone. You probably think the way to stop the death rolls Is to crank the pole aft and hammer the vang down... Lol LMAO 🤣😂🤣😂

@@robertkowalski9906 You ease both sails. I raced for 25 years as a trimmer . Won a MORC commodores cup and finished in the top5 MORC internationals 4 times. One design racing? Sure... 36.7, Farr 40, j35, j24, j22, melges 24, mumm 30...... Should I continue? Maybe you need a physics lesson... Sails are foils that create lift. Without easing both sails the lift created by the jib can and will round you up in a blow even if you're flogging the main. Been there done that. I have no idea what you're talking about.

Someone needs to tell the morons on the sheet to stop filling the kite before it is fully hoisted. If someone did that to me while I was doing foredeck I would be walking back and slapping the crap out of them.

Hey Reise Reise, thanks for keeping up all these videos and congrats on the J111 upgrade! I've got a 33.7 here in Dallas TX and am considering a 'turbo' project with the asymmetric kite as you did. Do you have a blog or other pics you can send me of your setup? Any thoughts on what you would've done differently/better? Thanks!!

You guys can't operate this sail in this speed We used to own a j/35 in the mid 80's. We would use our full spinnaker in wind speed of 35k+ and surfed at speed of over 16knots!! This crew could have used me. ;). Thanks for the video... I enjoyed it.
