My camera on AUTO mode chooses a much too slow shutter speed when I am on 500mm, for example. It takes 1/125 and an ISO of 100 instead of an ISO of 400 or 800 and a 1/500 shutter…makes me MAD then the pictures are just blurry.
@Jswcat15 сағат бұрын
I would recommend shooting in manual where you have full control of all settings and set the ISO to what would be your highest preference. That way you can set the shutter speed to what you desire. If you’re shooting at 500 mm your aperture is always constant at F4. So you only have those two variables to worry about.
@leonardoiglesias23948 сағат бұрын
@ thanks! But I know that. I am talking about a problem the AUTO has: choosing a too slow shutter speed at a too low iso number for 500mm. Of course, I can do everything manually, but its like saying: the navigation system of my car took me to a wrong city and when I complain they say, well, then, if you want to go to another city buy yourself a map. The AUTO programm( Sony) knows I am making a foto at 500 mm and still gives me 1/125s at ISO 100. Thats my problem.

Hi, I have a very similar setup as you do, but I use the 12-100 f4 pro instead of the 20mm and the 40-150 f2.8. If I know that I have to shoot in lower light, I bring along the 12mm f2, 25mm f1.4 ii (panaleica) and the 75mm f1.8. However for majority of times, in my bag I bring along the 7-14mm f2.8, 12-100mm f4, 300mm f4 and the 60mm f2.8 macro which is the only non pro lens, but nevertheless very sharp and weather-sealed. Coupled with my OM 1Mk ii, all of this lenses are a tonne of fun to use! 😊

Thanks! Mine arrives in a few days and I don't speak Sony yet (fluent in Lumix and conversant in Olympus). Ridiculous that production ended. Fingers crossed that demand will return for 1" bridge cameras and development will continue. There should be a Mk V (or VII by now)! Phones will never be good enough and there are times when ILCs aren't practical. Meantime, a weatherproof Lumix FZ with similar reach* would be great. I'll still use ILCs, but for travel, walking the dogs, and shooting in conditions where you can't change lenses, bridges can't be beat! *I'd actually rather have something like 20-500mm EFL, but that's why my go-to system is Lumix G9-based--12-800mm is easy to carry and can do things other cameras can't.

The tip for the unzoom its very good. I didnt know the camera could do that. I am trying to set it up, but cant. Is it in "Custom Key (Shoot.)? Cant find it. Thanks.

It indeed is in the custom key shoot menu so if you press that button, you would go to the second page and down at the bottom of the second page you will see focus hold button so you click that and then on page 16 of 22 you’ll see zoom assist so select that and you should be all set

Unless you're a professional diung a specific workflow, requiring a camera far exceeds this camera's range, this is an excellent camera. How can I set option to delete all images on the card?
@Jswcat2 ай бұрын
This is what works for me : 1) press the play button to bring up the photos and / or videos on the SD card. 2) press the menu button and it will automatically bring up the delete option. If there are separate days however you will have to delete each day one by one.
@Jswcat2 ай бұрын
Also you can just format the SD card by going to the “toolbox” icon in the menu (#5) and going to the 5th page. But remember, this will delete everything without looking to see what you’re deleting.

I couldn’t agree with you more as I’ve been down the same road with Sony, Nikon, Cannon and Olympus. I do now own a used Hasselblad X1Dii 50C which I love just because of the simplicity, but also it makes me more aware of what to photograph, but also to do it carefully as the camera body and or the lens has no image stabilization.

I loved your video and would agree based on the fact that the world population is currently aging which would mean looking for simple solutions as a posed to a heavy bag of gear, in addition all camera manufacturers are posting lower sales volumes, most believe that Smartphones are to blame yet there is a gap which this camera fills, the larger sensor and incredible zoom range whilst providing good image quality is something NO SMARTPHONE can reasonably do, but Sony most certainly can with the RX line. I sincerely hope that they wake up to this reality and reinvigorate the RX line. Sony produces sensors, lenses AND smartphones, thus if anyone is positioned to Stun and reinvigorate the camera market with a refresh of the RX line with current sensors and software as a technology demonstrator it’s SONY. I really hope that they see the massive gap that exists between Smartphones (growing market reaching stagnation as a photography tool )and Interchangeable Lens cameras (shrinking market) . Nothing beats the RX line in this gap. Case in point , Leica , despite the made in Germany price tag has had success with the Q1,2,3 , a market segment Sony was first to with the RX1 and could have dominated if not for the sudden loss of interest in continued development of the RX line. If they refocused their efforts and technology on the RX 1, 10,100 it would draw a line in the sand that no Apple or Samsung keynote speaker could honestly state that their new camera features are that fantastic if these small and powerful RX cameras are the impossible comparison as the only real distinguishing feature in their smartphone lineupare camera specs and screen size. Sony could reclaim this under-serviced middle ground most of us live in.

I have the first incarnation of the RX-10, and it is still in perfect shape. Even if its zoom is not as powerful as in the later models, it's still very handy and versatile. A big plus is the fact that you never have to remove the lens. Less chances for dust to get into the sensor, and you don't have to fumble around, trying to switch lenses. Works great with Godox TTL flashes, too As long as you are aware of its limitations, you'll be able to take great photos. RX-series cameras are the best all-around digital cameras.

Nice commentary, but I'll bet most of your audience is just waiting for you to knock over that coffee cup. I know I did. You're right, the RX10 IV is a great all-round machine. It's a great addition to my event-coverage camera group. However, for portraits, I'd stick with the Z8 and an 85 1.8 lens. The eye autofocus of the Z8 is superb giving you the ability to move with your subjects.

I picked this up new a couple years ago and I would stick to this camera for the rest of my life...except now Sony is no longer going to produce it, nor come up with an updated version. They are dumping the super zoom bridge cameras. I'm sick about it. I'm getting too old to get into full frame, multi lens cameras and don't want to carry around all that gear. Stupidest move on Sony's part for sure. I sure hope mine lasts.

Hello, for the left thumb button I use it as a quick temporary BiF mode switch as I assosiated it to a memory setting that will instantly switch to 1/1000, burst mode, full wide autofocus. This is very convenient in case I am walking around taking usual picture of country and bugs and then I see a bird (or a deer or rabbit) moving fast so I just press the button and shoot and once its done I release the button to go to normal.

For spare batteries, Small Rig makes a battery that can be recharged with USB-C using a portable power bank. And the sweet part is that it displays the charge percentage on the camera display just like the Sony original Info Lithium battery.

Whether you zoom with the lever around the shutter button or the zoom ring, both are zoom by wire, ie, electronic motor. It does not have a mechanical ring. It does have a setting to make it zoom quicker. But then, for those zoom lenses for interchangeable lens cameras, there is no 24-600 zoom available. Nothing else compares to the versatility of this camera lens paired with the 1-inch type sensor.
@paraagshah41534 ай бұрын
I have set the un-zoom button as the AF-On button after a bit of trying the AE-L and some other buttons. That way, the right thumb is free to make other adjustments when shooting.

I use the AE-L button for focusing as I use back button focus and I use my left hand underneath the lens barrel and use my left thumb for that side button on the lens to as you say, unzoom it. Different strokes for different folks!

If you’ve seen my other KZbin videos, I’ve been through the major manufacturers looking for more megapixels, etc., and finally realizing that this camera is the best for me. And recently, after hearing some people saying that this summer might be the last for production, I purchased another one as a backup!
@zavirca5 ай бұрын
I purchased one of these about 1 year ago second hand, loved it so much went and got another one for my wife second hand. Got them both for a great price and never looked back, Been using it for wildlife and sports photography etc, it's just so much fun to use and only weights 1kg. Hope it's not the end of the line for Sony when it comes to bridge cameras because if they did release another one which was updated I'd be first in line to grab it. But I'll never end up buying a camera with interchangeable lenses as I don't wont to lug around heavy equipment when out enjoying my walk. So if Sony wants my money again which it may not but if it does then lets hope they release another bridge camera down the track.
@Jswcat5 ай бұрын
I could not agree more. Matter fact, I just placed an order for a brand new one through B&H Photo as I am afraid the rumors may be true that they’re discontinuing the camera this summer, which is kind of right around now. I’ll keep it sealed until I really need to use it, but I really can’t find anything else that fits this terrific package and if you watched most of my videos, I’ve gone back-and-forth with interchangeable lens cameras, and always come to the realization, as you have mentioned of the weight complexity and cost of those other systems.
@carols14065 ай бұрын
Absolutely agree with everything you have written. I can't handle heavy gear and do a lot of long birding hikes, but after having my RX10iv for the past few years I am spoiled by the quality. I would buy a v in a minute if they released one. I am already researching other bridge cameras to see what is out there because if Sony stops bridge camera production I am going to have to sadly change brands because mine won't last forever. I really hope other brands see the opportunity to come out with a higher end bridge camera that will appeal to our market.
