In the menu under tab number five, which is indicated by an icon that looks like a toolbox, go to the second page, which is Setup2, then go down to power save time, and you can set it up where it turns the power off from 10 seconds all the way up to 30 minutes with intervals in between if you want to save your battery power. To wake up the camera again just a light press on the shutter and you’re all set to go!

Nice commentary, but I'll bet most of your audience is just waiting for you to knock over that coffee cup. I know I did. You're right, the RX10 IV is a great all-round machine. It's a great addition to my event-coverage camera group. However, for portraits, I'd stick with the Z8 and an 85 1.8 lens. The eye autofocus of the Z8 is superb giving you the ability to move with your subjects.

I picked this up new a couple years ago and I would stick to this camera for the rest of my life...except now Sony is no longer going to produce it, nor come up with an updated version. They are dumping the super zoom bridge cameras. I'm sick about it. I'm getting too old to get into full frame, multi lens cameras and don't want to carry around all that gear. Stupidest move on Sony's part for sure. I sure hope mine lasts.

Hello, for the left thumb button I use it as a quick temporary BiF mode switch as I assosiated it to a memory setting that will instantly switch to 1/1000, burst mode, full wide autofocus. This is very convenient in case I am walking around taking usual picture of country and bugs and then I see a bird (or a deer or rabbit) moving fast so I just press the button and shoot and once its done I release the button to go to normal.

For spare batteries, Small Rig makes a battery that can be recharged with USB-C using a portable power bank. And the sweet part is that it displays the charge percentage on the camera display just like the Sony original Info Lithium battery.

Whether you zoom with the lever around the shutter button or the zoom ring, both are zoom by wire, ie, electronic motor. It does not have a mechanical ring. It does have a setting to make it zoom quicker. But then, for those zoom lenses for interchangeable lens cameras, there is no 24-600 zoom available. Nothing else compares to the versatility of this camera lens paired with the 1-inch type sensor.

I use the AE-L button for focusing as I use back button focus and I use my left hand underneath the lens barrel and use my left thumb for that side button on the lens to as you say, unzoom it. Different strokes for different folks!

If you’ve seen my other KZbin videos, I’ve been through the major manufacturers looking for more megapixels, etc., and finally realizing that this camera is the best for me. And recently, after hearing some people saying that this summer might be the last for production, I purchased another one as a backup!
@zavirca

I purchased one of these about 1 year ago second hand, loved it so much went and got another one for my wife second hand. Got them both for a great price and never looked back, Been using it for wildlife and sports photography etc, it's just so much fun to use and only weights 1kg. Hope it's not the end of the line for Sony when it comes to bridge cameras because if they did release another one which was updated I'd be first in line to grab it. But I'll never end up buying a camera with interchangeable lenses as I don't wont to lug around heavy equipment when out enjoying my walk. So if Sony wants my money again which it may not but if it does then lets hope they release another bridge camera down the track.
@Jswcat
@Jswcat 2 ай бұрын
I could not agree more. Matter fact, I just placed an order for a brand new one through B&H Photo as I am afraid the rumors may be true that they’re discontinuing the camera this summer, which is kind of right around now. I’ll keep it sealed until I really need to use it, but I really can’t find anything else that fits this terrific package and if you watched most of my videos, I’ve gone back-and-forth with interchangeable lens cameras, and always come to the realization, as you have mentioned of the weight complexity and cost of those other systems.
@carols1406

Absolutely agree with everything you have written. I can't handle heavy gear and do a lot of long birding hikes, but after having my RX10iv for the past few years I am spoiled by the quality. I would buy a v in a minute if they released one. I am already researching other bridge cameras to see what is out there because if Sony stops bridge camera production I am going to have to sadly change brands because mine won't last forever. I really hope other brands see the opportunity to come out with a higher end bridge camera that will appeal to our market.

@Jswcat

Most of what I shoot is in raw, but I do shoot JPEG when I want to use the effects available in the camera but also if the lighting is something I really don’t want to fool around with or edit later on. as an example this week, I shot about 5000 captures in raw and it took me roughly about five hours to edit out the ones I wanted to edit !

Excellent presentation of the OM-1 system that I am interested in. I am contemplating OM-1 MKII, 12-40 f.28 pro and 40-150 f2.8 pro. In full frame you pay 2 to 3 times as much for a camera with stacked sensor, and a focus distance reach of 24 to 300 mm all at fixed f2.8 aperture. I know that the out of focus area might not be as blurred as with equivalent full frame lenses. But the truth of the matter is that I cannot afford f2.8 full frame lenses, not do I want to haul them around. So I would most. As a enthousiast (not a pro) who travels a lot, the OM System makes a lot of sense for me.

After considerable thought I did not buy it but it indeed sold for $5700. The “sigma” 150-600 lens I will not buy because I had that on a previous camera and for walking around from 4 to 6 miles it’s just way too heavy. I can use my 300 F4 with the converters I get the same type of reach even though it is something you have to configure and of course it does not zoom.

Hey, you only live once. Spend someones inheritance. While the 150-400 is no good for golf, it is still huge and not something you carry by accident. Keep in mind there are rumors of 2 new fast zooms coming out this year. 50-200 pro and/or 50-250

while I have no experience w/the 300 mm lens you currently have, everything I have seen, read and heard about that lens is amazing, which seems to be the case with most prime lenses. I did order the 150-400 pro lens you are considering and waited about 4 to 6 months for it to come in after selling virtually all my drones/video gear so my out of pocket expense was acceptable. I have been extremely impressed with the quality of the lens and the photos it produces w/the EM1X, it is a great fit w/the body and it is a permanent fixture on that body. I use the other EM1X for other lenses I have. I believe it is well worth the money, especially how much the equivalent lens costs form other manufacturers/platforms, if you have the budget, and you want that kind of reach or even more w/the teleconverter you already have, you can't go wrong.
@Jswcat

For that sort of money I think you would want to seriously consider switching to Sony and one of their cheaper zooms. The bodies are more but overall similar money for the package. Not saying Sony would be better for you, but something to carefully consider. Otherwise stick with the 300 and teleconverter, that is unless you find subjects often getting unexpectedly close.

The 150-600 is a sharp lens. I had the 300 however, I love being able to adjust my shot and not be lens locked which was my complaint. The 300mm makes great pics but I'm sure you've researched it and found that 150--600mm does as well, with diversity. Does your budget support the purchase? That much money without real proof that the liens has been cared for and, dare I say, no drops, bumps or, other man made happenings...I would lean into selling my 300mm and applying that to a new one. Budget plus necessity...You'll make the right decision! PS, I bought the Oly 100-400 and I am truly blown away by pictures I've taken and it be .01 difference in my viewing vs. the 300.
