@Ratan.Randhawa5 ай бұрын
@@vijaychouhan3610 You could learn the patterns with something as simple as a 2 sticks or 2 spoons played against your legs but ideally you will want to upgrade to a dhol eventually so you can start to understand the technique required to produce the sound you are aiming for 🙂

Thank you for the support as always. I will bring a video on this in the future but simply put Dhin is as described in the video where both ke and na (closed) are struck together but with kin the ke (closed treble) is played before the na. Some Ustads may call different notes different names so it would be worth checking with your teacher whether this is what they mean

I have been playing dhol for almost a year now and have been thinking about getting a new one. Could you make a video describing all the different choices to make when buying a dhol? I know there are many options and many sellers so it would be a cool tool to have a video about it? Also, do you have a good online seller where I can get some good quality wooden tillis? Everything I've tried either gives me one that is too flimsy or too stiff :(.
@Quatronconsultancy8 ай бұрын
Several onLine shops. It normally comes free with dhol
@rrrtsinghs7218 ай бұрын
Where do you get your dagga and tilli’s from ?
@Ratan.Randhawa8 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. These are from Raja Music House however I don't believe they are particularly special. You can get them from almost any dhol provider. Depending on experience you might be looking for a specific shape weight or type of wood and in that case I would advise you find a store where you can physically see and try before you buy

Also when I play is the bass suppose to be louder then tilli side or not louder?
@Ratan.Randhawa9 ай бұрын
Depends on your striking. Usually the bass is considered louder but actually its about what you are trying to deliver to the audience. Sometimes you want the tilli to be more prominent and the bass more subtle and sometimes the opposite. Its important to learn to play soft as well as loud. I am still working on this everyday myself 🙂
@BluGFX9 ай бұрын
I can play Dhol but how do dholis play so loud? I can play everything but i can’t play that loud that will be loud enough In an entire hall?
@Ratan.Randhawa9 ай бұрын
Good question. First thing is to actually try and play in a hall. Acoustics of the room make a big difference in how far sound travels. I typically don't have to play much louder than I play at home. Next is to actively practice playing loud, maybe slow down how fast you are playing a little so you can play louder. Eventually you'll find you actually want to play quieter!
@mathursharad0079 ай бұрын
What changes the volume and quality of the sound is whether the hall is empty or full of people With people I have to play louder and get tired faster as the sound is absorbed by the crowd. The dhol also sounds more muted in a crowd. One thing I learnt about playing in a crowd is energy control, you can’t let adrenaline take over otherwise your tilli hand and fingers are going to fall off. I play drums and I find dhol so much more physically demanding
@BluGFX9 ай бұрын
@@mathursharad007 I’ve played Dhol with a huge hall with like 100+ people In it but then I saw another Dholi play once and he was playing very loud. I want to start playing loud but I don’t know what to do
