Nice boat and motor! Not surprised, my Grandad told me always run it out of gas when finished. Love my old 76 and 86 Evinrudes and do this everytime. New impeller, spark plugs and lube then back in the water, enjoy!

Doesn't it have to be in a trash can of water keep the parts cool I say this cause we have the similar version with blue colors were told to idle in a trash can
@djs34842 жыл бұрын
Proper fogging and weatherization procedures were obviously followed and id were another 17 years it would've fired up just the same. That huge cloud of smoke was the fogging oil burning off.

This is why you never buy Mercury
@bradywiggers73824 жыл бұрын
A mercury could never do this in fact I have a mercury waiting for parts. Even when the parts get here I am going to sell it because I realized how unreliable they are. The mercury motor that I have is freshwater only and garage-kept and looks amazing. But it runs like crap.

Turn it upside down and hose it down... Don't get the motor part wet...
@kentyler9664 жыл бұрын
If everyone with an outboard ran the motor out of gas before pulling the boat boat mechanics would have a lot less work to do. Gas turns into varnish after sitting too long. Makes a mess that’s easily avoidable.

Omc was the best! Just got a 92 Johnson 15 that hadn’t run in 6 years I put some new plugs and now it runs great the carb gasket needs replaced though it leaks a little

Johnson/Evinrude (OMC) has always been my choice. I've got a 1990 4hp Johnson, 1969 6hp Johnson, and a 15hp Evinrude and they all run great. Taken proper care of, they'll probably outlive the owner.
@land77764 жыл бұрын
That gives me some encouragement for my 1988 Evinrude 25HP, which hasn't been started in ~5years. I got some new non-ethanol gas, a new battery but so far it wouldn't pull start. It sputterd for about half a second one time. New plugs, pistons move freely. I'm going to try it with the new battery..

Never understood why they don't make these with a filter screen on the back, unless it's because they want you to replace them every few months, because taking them apart is a pain, this is extremely easy!

I’m not surprised. Evinrude is the only name in outboards, glad we got to see it. I love these sorts of videos. Every Spring, first trip of the season, I dumps the boat off the trailer and float away from the jetty and start the engine, Yamaha people always wish it doesn’t start I’ll bet! But she always does. I’m never buying anything else. Ever.

Cool drone footage I would be afraid to fly mine over the crowds. The FAA is handing out some hefty fines.
@billysexton5 жыл бұрын
The law changed, license no longer needed for hobbyist flying drones as of last year. If you are charging for your services then you have to get a license or you could get ticketed. Cheers !
@fredfleming89055 жыл бұрын
Yes I heard about the license not required. However there is still restrictions in part 107 that have not been revised yet they are just proposals to the flying over crowds. If you are 250 grams or less probably you can but over that weight I think you must follow some additional safety rules. Anyhow great video.

We had an old 1972 model 55hp Evinrude twin on a 15 foot fibreglass runabout that was left out in the weather for God knows how long..The hull was rotted and destined for the tip..In a last effort to see if the motor was any good..i connected a good battery to it changed fuel lines cleaned out the fuel tank and put some fresh 50 to 1 mix..and it started on the 3rd attempt as well..We kept this motor..Amazing Evinrude motors both time and the elements cant even kill them..
@seangreene645 жыл бұрын
One of the reasons that happened is when he ran it out of fuel it was still pumping oil into the carbs. Two with the oil tank still being connected it too pushed oil into the carbs , that’s why you had that big plum of smoke when it fired up. By no means this motor is ready for use out on the water. It needs a full service.

Bullshit, I had a brand new 86 Evinrude 225 was a beast till the engine threw a rod because the robots forgot to tighten down the rod bolts to specs and that's when they went down hill. Evinrude &Johnson were good back in the 70's early 80's, then they went to shit, why do you think they call those engines ocean burners, You can't beat a Yamaha or Suzuki today.
