Season 1 and 2 frank is shockingly reasonable and tame if you watch it after s11. Honestly the moment i turned to really really really ahte him (his addiction made me sympathetic atr the start because he dokes seem to love them) is when he killed dottie.

Liking the character because they’re well written and serve the story is one thing; overlooking how awful they are as a person within the story’s universe is something else entirely. Not hating his fucking guts is a sign of sickness in the head. Frank is absolutely disgusting, despicable and despisable. Despite being a good character.

i dont like that the writers start a sex scene with ian and mickey to only cut out the actual love scene... like it is implied and then you see it after it is over. for example when ian and mickey get together on the ball field to only have it shown after with mickey saying i always wanted to do that here. it is a bit of a cop out b/c it aired on showtime they could of easily shown full on love scenes... like they did with another successful showtime show... qaf. meanwhile shameless shows very explicit sex scenes between lip and karen and fiona and jimmy. also veronica and kev. like it is ok to show them with straight couples but not with mickey and ian... come on!

recently binging the series and to me parts of their relationship is toxic but look at how they grew up... dysfunction is all around them so i am sure they bring parts of that into their relationship... as for mickey his home life affected how he treated people. also he fought against his internalized homophobia... for him to overcome that and have a long term relationship is wonderful. both of them grow as people and find comfort in each other. even those around them see it... love when fiona tells ian... look mickey is here. such a sweet moment. like saying oh here is your fave person.

You guys realize that in this fandom we see a throatpunch and we go "awww", right? That pretty much sums up kind of show Shameless is and I'm so here for it.

I think Shameless UK's Micky Maguire is also an incredible character. He starts off as comedic relief, even stupider then Mickey is in the first seasons, but eventually gains confidence and even leaves the estate to build his own life. I love both adaptations of Micky, but I believe Maguire should always get a special mention for my favorite Shameless character of all time.
