People are talking about their interpretations of the meaning, so I’ll share mine. It reads to me as someone hiding their pain “bottling it up” like the ship, putting in a happy facade. It seems with the “we both share the things that we both really feel.” Is his subconscious trying to show that he’s not okay, he only pretends he is. Though, the inner storm gets too much, but they refuse a crew to help, taking it alone, without help. The facade of “bottle” starts to crack, showing the negativity, causing them to break down, hence the “red spots in their eyes from crying to the sky.” The negativity starts to drown them. They’re sinking into the negativity and starting to overthink it, sinking further with each thought. I’m also thinking they might get a drinking problem from the lines “You popped the cork, you get lost in your brain, and you lose touch with all the things that make you feel sane." Sorry it’s long and this is just my interpretation. I have no phycological knowledge to back it up in anyway. You’re free to your own interpretations and opinions.
