Such a holiday classic! Hearing this song really gets me in the Christmas Spirit. Time to get the tree decorated, the egg nog warmed, and cards written and in the mail!

in those days two skunks named louella parsons and hedda hopper, (gossip columnists) could destroy a career by merely smeering a star. They did it to many. But Vaughn Monroe's personal ethics was so awesome that they never dared to attack him. It says much for the man's character. Superhartline

@VAUGHNMONROEVIDEO ... Would you happen to have "Prisoner of Love" by Vaugh Monroe? It was my dad's favorite song to sing when he was drinking with his Irish buddies. Thanks for the fine music videos.

I have heard many versions of this song, but NO ONE ever did it with such feeling! I was very young when I first heard this, and I have loved it since!

If I'm correct he was No.1 with this, and its got that old log fire sound to it like Bings Xmas songs and Andy Williams,Sinatra sang carols superbly too,not many can croon now, shame!

Vaughn passed away way too soon ! In 1965 the country was really something vs, the rest of the world.

He was such a great singer-every song he sang was terrific. It is too bad that many of the modern singers do not have the talent that he had (along with Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, et al).

I apologize if this has been asked and answered already -- but was this version heard at the end of "Die Hard"? Sounds like it.

i wonder what our grandchildren will do in the future when all these kind of voices like Vaughn Monroe's won't be listened anymore by them, because we are not going to be here anymore, i'm sorry for them because of the new kind of music they listen now has not the same quality.

This is a GREAT video. But does Vaughn make a mistake? At time 1:01 where he sings, "You wanted love instead..." shouldn't it have been, "You wanted fame instead..?" The story is about a ballerina who chose career over relationship. Picky I know, but thought I'd mention it. Thanks for sharing.

I know his music from my parents, who I'm thankful still to have with me at 89 and 83. "There I Said It Again" is a song my father sang to my mother, a beautiful 2nd tenor rendition. I sent the Vaughn Monroe version to my wife for her birthday.
