Has anybody tried putting it in a spray bottle?
@wamindustries
@wamindustries Күн бұрын
I haven't... I know a few people have commented about they were going to try it. I think if you use it in a sprayer or spay bottle it may ruin it if you don't find a way to clean it out well as the silicone may restrict or fill the small holes in the sprayer.

As far as the wax goes I just watched a video which I trust and he used 2 lb of wax and two cups of mineral oil melted it together let it cool and applied it with a warm disposable iron and it doesn't crack off and start leaking or cause the fabric to break it stays soft in cold weather as well as hot
@wamindustries
@wamindustries 5 күн бұрын
Hmm... I've never tried that. Assuming the oil is primarily to act as a carrier? My main concern is making it even more flammable
@mauriceupp9381

@@wamindustries it's softens the wax so that it doesn't crack and fall off after it cools and it stays in the cloth flammable is not a problem it was hard to catch fire with Sparks but just like the one you're putting wax in it will burn like a candle wick

i don't get why many tents has no floor properly sew. it's incomplete. bugs gets in.

There are a wide range of ratings not to include the floor, from weight (tent without the floor is over 50 lbs), ease of set up (frame would be a little more difficult to set up), ease of changing out the floor if ans when it wears out.

Can you use wood stain over this method?
@wamindustries

Yes if you include enough wood dust... if your ratio is off it won't hold the stain as well... though you need to sand the mixture once it's dry before staining

@@wamindustries thank you. Equal parts ratio? More dust than glue? Thanks again!
@wamindustries

@@johnc1280 it's not as much an exact ratio because not all saw dust is equal. You need just enough to bind the saw dust together and to bind it to the wood that your filling... too much saw dust it crumbles... too much glue it's runny.

How did the paraffin sealed seams work during the storms? Did you have any of those seams at the tent top?
@wamindustries
@wamindustries Ай бұрын
Good question! Our seams that were sealed with the wax didn't leak at all. We didn't add any seams beyond what the canvas came with at the ridge (we added seams for the door which went up to the ridge and the horizontal seams that formed the drip edge that the poles connected into). It held up to a severe wind and rain and it stood strong and kept us and our gear dry. Wind was somewhere between 20 and 30mph.

The immediate issue I see is placing the air conditioner on a vinyl window altogther. Warpage or separation of the window frame can occur from the weight of AC unit. Vinyl windows are simply not made to carry that weight. That becomes a severe issue if there is a cavity between the bottom frame of the vinyl window and the wooden sill it is sitting. The best advice I can offer is to build a wooden cradle that will be supported by the inside and outside sils. The AC unit sits on top of the cradle and damaging the window frame becomes a non-issue. In making the cradle it should be angled 4 to 5 degrees downward towards the outside for water run off.

Awesome to see folks taking the iniative to fix their gear! Its a shame that tabbed cr2450s are a bit harder to find than other sizes (outside of the 2450hr that are more expensive because of their heat rating). One thing that may save you hassle in the future is soldering a 2045 holder to the board instead of those leads. Itll let you swap out the battery quickly in the future. Great video, thanks!
@wamindustries
@wamindustries 3 ай бұрын
I like that idea! Do you know if they make a low profile battery holder? Inside the plastic body there's maybe 3/16 of an inch of space... I don't think the battery holders I have seen would fit... though could possibly make a custom battery holder in the future.

Is it possible to water it down if you need to fill a small warp. I need a flat surface
@wamindustries
@wamindustries 3 ай бұрын
Hmm... I haven't tried that. I would guess in theory it would work if you're using shavings that were fine enough (probably best to build up the surface and then sand it down to the right thickness), though depending on your surface it may be better just to hand plane it to flatten it and then feather it in with the planer or sandpaper. If you're painting the surface, I have sometimes used a harder plaster. I would only use a thin layer though... keep it thin. Hope this helps!

Since it's been a few years, if you remove the white fan shroud that's attached to the condenser coil (the outside coil that gets hot), there's a decent chance you'll find dirt plastered against the inside of that coil. If enough air can't be forced through those little fins, proper heat exchange can't happen. That's what kills your efficiency and shortens the lifespan of your compressor. (Imagine how poorly a vehicle's engine would cool if the radiator was covered in dirt.) You can spray off the condenser coil to get all that junk out. Just don't use anything like a pressure washer or you could destroy the coil fins. There are all kinds of coil cleaners on the market; up to you if you want to go that route. On the other hand, the evaporator coil looked great! That's a really cool intro, by the way. Reminded me a bit of the intro for Home Improvement. Take care, man!
