Hi I am so sorry about your Fee. I was wondering if you have had any genetic testing done? I noticed you said she is from Hong Kong. I am not familiar with your country and I was wondering about ticks? Here in the states ticks can cause a lot of problems for animals and cause all kinds of diseases that can’t be detected unless they r specifically tested for that disease such as Lyme. We can carry ticks into the house on our shoes and clothing. You are so very correct when you say you have to pay attention to body language!! It’s a good sign that she still has an appetite. The unfortunate thing with cats are they don’t let you know they are getting sick until they are very sick. She could have had symptoms for quite awhile and not shown it. I agree that it is not neurological because her eyes seem fine, they are not spinning. Have you tried a naturalist? Sometimes they can help where “regular “ medicine can’t. I really wish you and your kitty all the best. I would love to hear an update if you have one.

Hello. Thank you for providing suggestions. Most pet cats in Hong Kong are indoor cats, so infections are highly unlikely. Felicity's blood tests did not indicate any infection. She has never had any seizures or vomiting and, as the vet specialist said, has just deteriorated. The cause is still unknown. The positives are that Felicity is very alert and has a good appetite. Cats will tend to hide any pain, but we try to make her as comfortable and happy as possible.

Thank you. I hope it is not due to poison (since Fee is an indoor house cat). But please let me know the name (of poison and medicine?), if only to warn or raise awareness for others.

Is she tested for all feline infectious diseases? I have a cat who experienced neurological attacks resembling to the epilepsy. He would all the sudden just fell on his side, pronounced shaking of his whole body, saliva would be getting out of his mouth and this attack lasted some minute or two. One would guess epilepsy 100%. But it turned of he is FeLV positive. Blood work was ok, he was eating well, nothing was pointing to infection.

Thank you, and sorry to hear about your cat's neurological attacks. The specialist ruled out toxoplasmosis, FIV and Covid-19, since Fee has no symptoms. Fee has never had any seizures or epileptic attacks, so unlikely to be FeLV. So similar to your cat but also different; blood work normal, eating well and nothing pointing to infection. 😿

@@tooflesstesla I don't know what its like in HK but in Croatia testing for FIV/FIP/FeLV is not that expensive thus our vets never rule out any of it based on the symptoms alone and they always insist on doing those tests. I would recommend to do it, despite Fee not showing typical symptoms, just in case... If it is, God forbid, FeLV than nothing much can be done (except to feed the cat with high quality food and minimizing all the stress) but nowadays there are excellent treatments for FIP.

@@JasminkaPopovic-h1k Hello. Fee is an indoor cat. When I found her in the street 10 years ago (when she was about 3 weeks old), the vets did test her and told me she was clean. But I will do those tests again; thank you for your suggestion. She eats healthily (canned real food) but I will change them to complete diet canned food now.

I know Fee is an indoor cat, my cat as well. I adopted him when he was 2 months old and he never until now showed any symptoms. He was obviously infected while he was outside, a very long time ago, as a baby (or even got it from his mother). When you read about FeLV, everybody is saying that cats typically live only few years after getting infected. Based on those facts and considering that my cat is now old as Leo, one could easily assume that FeLV could be ruled out. I will keep my fingers crossed that Fee turn out to be negative and then I will call my vets to ask if they have any idea what could be a reason for her condition.

@@JasminkaPopovic-h1k Hello. Glad to know your cat has many years (and will continue to have many years) and FeLV can likely be ruled out. For Fee, I consulted the vet today. The vet said Fee's blood analyses showed no elevated WBCs, which is why we didn’t test for viral infections. The test-to-benefit also needs to be taken into account. It costs about US$56 to test for FeLV and FIV test; however there is no treatment for FeLV or FIV. Since Fee is 10 years old then, just like your cat, these viruses can be ruled out. It costs US$156 for FIP test. Again, FIP usually affects younger cats. And Fee has no symptoms. I can decide to test for FIP but am aware the treatment programme is injections over 84 days. This will also be very stressful to Fee. FIP injections are not legal in HK, and oral treatment for FIP is not as effective as injections. Also, FIP treatment is costly. In summary, the vet said it is unlikely that Fee is affected by viral infections. I am feeding her "complete" diet canned food and I am happy she has a good appetite. But we still do not know the cause of her mystery condition.

Hallo William, I have the same problem, but I am not a cat. I am a 72 years old woman. It started after Covid vaccinations. Now, almost 3 years later it keeps on becoming worse. I cannot walk without help and my body wants to fall to the right. I have had the same examinations as your cat and the same medication, also without any improvement. It gets worse and worse. I think it has to do with the immunsystem, but the doctors don't want to look at that. I think they just don't know. I am sorry that I cannot help you, but at least now you know that this happens more often.

Thank you, and sorry to hear about your condition too. The specialist prescribed cyclosporin (an immunosuppressant) to check if Fee's mystery condition was immune-mediated. The medicine had no effect, so being an autoimmune condition was ruled out.

Thanks Ken! When that does happen, I predict many more cuts by manual drivers since devious drivers will know FSD software prioritises safety over road rules and will just brake when another car cuts in.
