I really like your technique of adding elastic to a waistband. Much easier than the technique that I’ve been using for decades. Thanks for sharing❤

Great tutorial. I have made one set of pleated draperies for my D-I-L and they look great. I am in the planning stages for one for my home but am having trouble finding the header tape you suggest. Can you give a suggestion or link? It seems so much of what I find is "pleater tape" which seems cumbersome. Thanks.

This is the best, easiest-to-understand explanation for making lined, pleated curtains. All the other videos I've watched end up sounding like the teacher on Peanuts. Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah. Thanks for the simple, no-brainer explanation.

If I am doing sheer curtains with no lining, is it okay to do the panels at around 1.7 the width of the window?
@myleshurtubise94204 ай бұрын
Hello! You could certainly do your sheers at this ratio, just keep in mind that the more fullness you have, the more privacy you will achieve. I believe for the sheers I did in my dining room, I did them at 2.5X fullness, which are quite full, but give me the privacy that I want since that window is quite close to the sidewalk in front of my house. :)

So excellent. Thank you so much. Especially the math. I have a question - if you are using interlining, would you sew that together with the lining?
@myleshurtubise94206 ай бұрын
Hello! Interlining is applied to the main drapery fabric, not the lining. Once the interlining is applied, you can treat the main fabric and interlining as one, and then attached the lining as normal. Keep in mind that the interlining will add bulk to your pleats. You may want to cut the interlining smaller than your main fabric so that it is not doubled up in your header or hems. This would require basting the interlining to the main fabric while you're making the drapes and then removing the basting once the drapes are finished.

Wow! This is absolutely one of the best tutorials I have seen and there are a lot! Question...most are using a wood piece for the bottom of the shade...do you use the metal simply for the weight or also because it is smaller then wood?
@myleshurtubise94208 ай бұрын
Yes! The metal is a much slimmer profile and heavier, so it helps pull the shade down when you want to release it.

Your how to make pinch pleat drapery video is incredibly helpful! are you making the pinch pleat the length of the buckram/header tape? basically pinching at the bottom of the header tape?
@StudioFabricana Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, yes! You're correct. The pleat is the length of the header tape, and we are pinching at the bottom of the header tape.
