We needn't question where thoughts come from, we must question the "stage" on which they appear. That stage is most always the stage of duality, of the "personal" I, me, mine. Once we understand and grasp that, we can begin to realize thoughts for what they are, fleeting and inconsequential. Then, we gain the ability to detach from those that are unimportant in our daily living and focus on those that do need our attention, for ourselves and others. It has taken me eight years to get here and I wouldn't trade that for anything. I'm confident there is even more for me to realize...it's a journey, for sure.

Watching my mind, the thought comes up 'Oh, I must go and check out Byron Katie. More videos to watch. Maybe she'll have the answers I'm seeking,' I seem to be getting better at catching these. When it comes to impersonal awareness, does it help to label - as in 'there is awareness of birdsong, there is awareness of traffic, awareness of thoughts etc etc' I've done that in the past but sometimes it feels like it's generating more mental energy.

You are really getting good at this, and so very interesting to me because I'm at that point of trying to reawaken my sensitivities and vulnerabilities, because I've spent a life feeling as though I've been encased in plastic, or not being able to reach out and truly interact with life, to feel life!, as it passes by untouched.
