Focused Shot, Focused Thrust, Cross Slash, Overcharge, Thunder. What an awesome combo lol I absolutely love this combat system and it's so cool to see the different combinations of moves you can pull off. Combat is gunna be absolutely insane with a third party member lol definitely will be looking forward to more of your videos when the game launches.

Has anybody figure out a good setup for both camera movement & target lock mechanic? Since the right stick in-battle locks & changes targets, moving the camera manually when the enemy jumps around like Scorpion here is out of the question

I noticed avoiding damage didn't seem to be something the devs even considered. I'm really not sure about the game after seeing this. THIS is how you do "no damage"? just stun-locking the boss? so is every boss going to be like this or will they just be impossible to no damage and the game will just expect you to take damage then heal like some cheap Chinese action game? no back and forth or interaction with enemies attack patterns because your defensive options are garbage? you can't guard because it's crap and will give you chip damage, dodge roll is slow, doesn't go far and has no i-frames. so the only reliable way to prevent taking damage is manipulating the AI and stun locking the boss. right now this combat is half baked. why can't they just give you proper tools to avoid damage. I really hope they fix things before release. one of my favourite things to do Is have a satisfying, perfect boss fight. that feeling of beating it while taking no damage is the best.. but not like this pls.

We don't have all our resources yet, don't forget this is an RPG first before an action game there may be materia later on that allow us to avoid taking damage or better the block and dodging.

Things would be different if he didn't interrupt its attacks (same as it can do to you) with precision timing, distance, delegation and attacks. He didn't manipulate anything he just studied.

@@powergi3996 Mario & luigi RPGs. but that's besides the point this is not turnbased, this is full action combat with some RPG elements. the original game was an RPG. this game gives you full control of the character. it's an ARPGs Kingdom Hearts Nioh Crosscode Warriors Souls games if you're just taking damage and healing you're not playing the games right. a good player can beat fights without taking any damage and they can do this because the fights are competently designed. it's basic game design: in any real time gameplay loop taking damage = bad. if you put damaging obstacles in the players way. then you give the player tools to avoid them and that's the challenge. this applies to all real time games from platformers to space invaders.

Bro you are a fucking moron. This is supposed to simulate old turn based or atb styled RPGs. This isn't some dark souls action game with s and shit. In turn based RPGs blocking gave you chip damage ,you could still learn attack patterns and strategize according but it did not mean that you would just not take damage . You are looking at the wrong game if you thought you were going to get kingdom hearts or something which relies on positioning and s then you are at the wrong place. This is more old school, where position doesn't matter, it is your strategy that matters. A slower paced style

That's his long range punisher mode attack into the held attack, I think it's less damage than the close range combo starter, but I just wanted to get into Berserk as fast as possible to break the leg.

Great delegation! Player knows to keep the ATB bars full. Someone else pointed out that staggering builds the limit bar and I'm glad they did. However it looks like only the character you're control gets the boost. Could be any of a few other factors though. Apparently when Barret hits the perched enemies with lightning he gets a limit boost too...gonna have to watch for all of that while trying to play like this guy.

@@dontacrowder4319 Who ever lands the staggering blow gains Limit gauge, and only the character currently being controlled affects the stagger gauge, unless a command is given to an ally, in which that command may also trigger stagger and award Limit progress to the character using the skill.

That's Berserk, Cloud can inflict it on himself when you use Punisher mode and hold attack. Unlike in the original FF7 you can still control the character and it increases damage from all sources seemingly, not just physical hits.

If you're locked on just moving the right stick should change targets. It's pretty simple in a fight like this where there's only one or two and they're all grouped together, but the first fight when Barret joins can be a bit of a pain if you don't pause. Sometimes it's better to not lock on, depends on the encounter really. As for how this fight was done... it's mostly about optimizing stagger damage, and planning ways to interrupt the boss's attacks. It's really consistent actually, the only random element I've found from the demo is your starting ATB, which is similar to the original FF7.

So, this is an interesting mechanic I discovered while attempting this. Whoever initiates a stagger gets a chunk of their limit bar filled. I purposely use Cloud on point when the boss is about to be staggered to maximize his limit bar, because if Barret takes any for himself I won't have a full Limit for the tail laser phase.

Combos are easier, but due to the way Ragna's new move Nightmare Edge works, it ends your combo immediately, so his average damage has gone down by about 1000 per combo. So, execution is easier, but damage is lower as a result.
