I’ve never heard anyone that can do 0:27-0:29 as well. I’ve watched tons on KZbin. I never even heard Eddie ever play that part again the same way. That’s the hardest part of the whole thing for me. Working on it.

Without taking away anything from the Dave Years which were just amazing music and Rock Hard showmanship., The Photos and Interviews with Sammy were just pure Joy to the next level of creation which was delivered through the music growing the fan base beyond the Band's expectations. Eddy drank to cope with the pressure to be an extrovert and suffered with unwanted change to front Men placing stress on his immune system. Best Guitar of Rock player ever. His isolated guitar tracks speak louder than anything. Just a regular kid dedicated to what he was born to do and made it happen. Miss hearing his next project, He brought so much joy into my life including buying my first guitar. Long Live the King of Rock Guitar Mr. Eddy Van Halen

The delay from the Echoplex is on for the entire track. There’s never a point at which there is no delay, even in this room mic track.

did he use a phaser on the album mix??
@AllenGarberGuitarFun2 күн бұрын
The phaser is on here. It gets turned on when he plays the G power chord and it stays on for the rest of the track.

Huge commentary here.... In 78/79 these guys with youth-energy-talent single-handedly bring back the the four piece rock band with dynamic front man and wizardry guitar and ensemble...I was 16 years old when the debut came out and thought what the hell is this? It's in a time period when Techno, Disco, RAP origins and punk are dominant on the landscape. Time and place have a huge role in music and these guys came at the right time and the right place...... An American band that held back nothing. In later years I realized that Van Halen still made music but not the same as music from the debut album to Fair Warning.... These guys were special in music historically. Just my opinion.

Now with hurricane Milton coming after Helene, respect is all you can do. I'm NOT idolizing music with disaster, BUT ... Pictures of devastation with the song would set it in stone.

That's the best electric 12 string tone since Stairway To Heaven. Secrets also has my favorite Ed solo. No it's not dazzling like Eruption but rather emotional and focused. To me it showcases Ed's control and master musicianship playing something that just fits so well with the song. This is the side of Eddie that all the technical shredder copycats miss.

Absolutley fascinating as usual. even though there's the structure and repeated chord sequenses, i dont think he plays them the same way twice, theres always just that little nuance, eg. up an octave, an added or removed note, a slide or a pop , and theres just so much swing and air to it, jeez, the cross rythym -counter beat he and Alex start it with, and that stunning solo that just comes right out of the gates with authority. We'll be unpacking Ed's gifted and remarkable songwriting and abilities for decades , just my thought , but even if he never wrote Eruption or tapped at all, his work was done , groundbreaking, explosive, unique and vibrant. His right hand had more Chop than a butchers shop.

Sounds really compressed and obviously he had some detune fx by then. Any reason why it sounds so compressed?
@VanHalenIsolated11 күн бұрын
He used a chorus pedal on this album; I’m not really 100% sure he didn’t use a detune but I don’t think he used the detune until 1984 (only a little on 1984 compared to 5150 and on) and on. Also, for some reason, pretty much every song on this album that I’ve tried to isolate doesn’t sound the best
