Seh das Video zum ersten Mal. Waylon war einer der Highwaymanlegenden leider auch schon von uns gegangen. Kris mag seine Fehler gehabt haben. Keiner ist makellos aber für mich war er der größte. R.I P. Kris

Wow - it sounds really different without Paul and Bee, but it is interesting to hear a stripped down band. Bobbie and Jody's playing are particularly clear, and you can really hear their rhythm playing. And it is great to hear a verse of 'Texas Flood' (starting at 1:51:04). during 'Milk Cow Blues'!

I wonder if Phil thought differently about Johnny Cash going to the White House after Johnny stayed true to himself in front of Nixon.

Thanks for posting this. What a trip down Memory Lane! Dolly was just coming on the heels of winning the CMAs Entertainer of the Year Award in 1978. (This was also a transitional period for her, as she knew [though most of the rest of us didn't] that she'd soon be starring in the 1980 blockbuster major movie "9 to 5.") She was apparently testing new hair styles and clothes styles duirng this transitional period in her career, as she bundled country roots, new-found pop music directions, and superstar status. I do wonder, however, how was--- and who produced & assembled this powerful group of country music stars of that period. It was a great group, but missing many other Country Music Greats from that era. Where were a few others, like George & Tammy, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, Stella Parton, Crystal Gayle, Charlie Pride, John Denver, and Ann Murray. If anyone reading this has any more production information about this and would like to share, please do. Thank you.

I missed Willie & Waylon. But I suppose there were other occasions when a lot more country singers played the White House. Jimmy Carter loved Country Music.

Willie and Ernest Tubb go back a long way. In the 60s Willie was a regular member of the Ernest Tubb TV show. Of course, by 1979 Ernest had his hair grown much longer.
