I always liked Craig's Bond. I think seeing this again, this might be why. He's very much got the same intense yet taciturn look.

I will never smoke cigarettes or Cigars but whenever I have the opportunity I will always give this same advice anytime I see someone buying Cigarellos. Use Wooden Matches to Preserve the Flavor, never a Lighter.

Wow, directing a lighter-hearted scene with no ironic quips? Magical craft, it seems.

For those who smoke cigars, does using a wooden match actually preserve the flavor?

Fun fact: Vincent D'Onofrio played again Orson Welles in a 30 min short film that he directed called Five Minutes, Mr. Welles

Much as I love Ed Wood, and yes, this scene was fiction, but in reality, Charlton Heston was the one who got Welles the job directing Touch of Evil (the film Vincent refers to in the clip) and they were good friends after they worked together. In no way would Welles mock CH. That was a cheap shot by the writers. Heston was attached to Touch of Evil. He's the reason the film got made. He wasn't forced on Welles. And as an added note, Vincent's voice is entirely dubbed by a different actor.

Why do I feel like whoever played Orson was dubbed. Still… it’s funny that both directors of “the # 1 greatest movie of film history” and “the # 1 worst movie of film history” got to meet each other in real life.

What IS a key component is the great machine - capable of creation by mere thought. BUT another great machine was also mentioned in THIS ISLAND EARTH. It was called the INTEROCITOR and could project deadly force to any part of space. What happened to the interocitor?

I wish this movie had some deleted scenes where the Time Traveller listens to all of the talking rings instead of just two. It looks like there are 5-6 more scattered around.

The film portrays how Leamas has a character flaw of accepting what he is told. When control tells him about the story of why they do wicked things, he is communicating gibberish. No intelligence is really communicated. He philosophizes his actions and expects Leamas to accept what he is told. If I were a spy I would have retired then and there because I would not allow myself to be manipulated with useless info.
