@Kompa_officialАй бұрын
Leuk!

hey i had a question, i have had cats and a bird in the same room for quite a long time. my cats have never shown any predatory instincts towards the bird ever, my birds cage is incredibly sturdy. they live in the same room and i cant move any of them due to my living arrangments. i never let the bird out with the cats, because my cats had a outside room, so i put them outside while handling my bird. but unfortunatelt my window broke so i cant let my bird out anymore since i cant lock my cats outside. i dont know if installing like wood panneling w wire inside it around my birds cage would help until i can fix my window?
@Kompa_official3 ай бұрын
If I understood your question correctly your concern is whether the cats can get to your birds while they are in the cage? Or do you mean for when the birds are out? If you claim to have a sturdy cage then that should be fine and safe.

@Kompa_official3 ай бұрын
All captive-bred parrots have a CITES. It's a certificate that proves that they are bred in captivity. Parrots who have CITES also have a closed foot ring or a chip with their personal number. Both Congo and Timneh are under Appendix 1 CITES. This is the highest level of protection.

@baublesanddolls3 ай бұрын
So incorrect. Not all captive bred birds have leg bands or certificates. Many breeders just breed and don’t supply them, and many nowadays don’t put leg bands on due to parrots getting their foot caught in a toy or rope and end up dying. Wild caught birds have been illegal for decades. I have no idea where this KZbinr is from, but she doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

@Kompa_official8 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, because of these body features you mention, they have poor sight and can't swim very well. If the goldfish would choose then I don't think they would like to have eyes popping out that have increased chances of damage and poor sight because of them. We can also breed healthy goldfish that don't have these problems.

Pit Bulls are one of the worst here in the US. You never know when that switch in their heads will activate turning them into killers...other animals and even people (so many documented reports here). Their bite strength is tremendous and it becomes extremely difficult to break the grip on whatever they latched on to.
@Kompa_official10 ай бұрын
Pitbulls are notorious for it. Some Pitbulls can be very sweet, but it all comes down to the training and socialization of the owners. Pitbulls are definitely not for everyone. Some Pitbull breeders are trying to breed their dogs more on their friendly character. So picking the right breeder is also very important.

can you cockatiel / falcon parakeet fly or do you have the flying wings cut off? and do you mean with a Budgie the cockatiel / falcon parakeet?
@Kompa_official11 ай бұрын
Arthur has all his wing feathers and is fully flighted and he makes sure to use them to get into mischief.😅 With the budgie I mean a budgie. It's the bird that's on the thumbnail. Budgies are also known as budgerigar or the scientific name Melopsittacus undulatus. Budgies are a bit smaller than cockatiels.

Well, being the first doesn't mean it's not bad. Black moors have poorer eye vision and a higher chance of being injured than fancy goldfish who don't have telescope eyes. I would pick a healthier goldfish over a goldfish with certain beauty standards and make it suffer for them.

When a Bugdie talks to you it means he is lonely. They only do learn that when there is no other bird around. And holding a swarm animal like abudgie alone is animal abuse!
@Kompa_official11 ай бұрын
Yes, you could indeed say that, and in a lot of cases, I completely agree with you. It's just like keeping a dog alone. These are originally also pack animals and shouldn't be alone. If you are keeping a parrot alone, then it's only acceptable when you are home for the majority of the day. Next to that, the parrot needs at least 1 hour of direct contact with the owner. So think of playing, singing, talking to each other doing tricks, etc. Although of course, it would be so much better to get another bird. If you only have one dog you should be home the majority of the day as well. No difference. Leaving them alone is negligence and animal abuse. There is no need to get animals when someone doesn't have the time to keep them happy. If you have a pet alone, remember that you have your friends, family, outings, partners, etc. An animal kept alone has only you. That's very important to keep in mind.
@Kompa_official11 ай бұрын
Talking doesn't necessarily have to mean that they are being abused. Some budgies love to interact with their owners. There are also cases in which budgies (or other parrots) learn to talk even though they have bird friends as well. Talking is a great form of enrichment for the parrot. It's a great way to keep their minds active and thinking. It's definitely better than being bored for them.
@DarylMCDeath11 ай бұрын
@@Kompa_official Ah really that applies to all parrots? Thought the Big Ones were solo animals, not swarm...But I have to admit I never read about those, only for budgies! Those are my favorites
@DarylMCDeath11 ай бұрын
@@Kompa_official Parrot maybe. With Budgies its 100% a sign of loneliness and a psychic damage! BUT a Bird that was lonely and learned talking and then got into a swarm can still talk. So yes you are right, it doesn`t mean actual abuse! But keeping a budgie alone is still animal abuse and in some countrys (like the one I live) you can get fines from 2500 to 3500 Euro...IF they get you inflagranti...

The bigger parrots often live in family settings. they are very social so keeping them alone without giving the proper attention is quite bad.
@amazonlife260911 ай бұрын
I’ve never taught a parrot to talk, I wouldn’t insult their dignity by doing so.
@Kompa_official11 ай бұрын
If you want to keep a parrot's dignity I don't think that they should be kept in a cage at all. They're such smart animals. Talking could be a great way to enrich your parrot. Not to mention that they can communicate and understand the world around them through talking. There was even a parrot that could do simple math and demand its own food! Its an incredible feat that parrots can talk and is in my opinion in no way an insult. They're the only other animals except for us that can use human speech. Definitely not an insult but a big props to their intelligence. Quite often they even teach themselves without any from of formal training. In the wild parrots also copy sounds from other animals so it's not that unnatural at all. It's your choice of course if you want to teach them. There are a lot of great other options to keep them stimulated as well, such as foraging, toys, interactions with others, and tricks.
