Yeah like the other guy said, you didn’t hear the difference from when it was last all connected? It’s a completely different tone and loud as hell.
@smallengineshop13 күн бұрын
No, there was no change in sound. I didn't notice it until I washed underneath the car.
@1986BBG13 күн бұрын
I don’t know what to tell ya, some people just aren’t in tune with their surroundings and their brains are more focused on doing other things than hearing a different tone under the car when sitting inside of it. My kids hear things all the time that I don’t because when your younger your brain takes in everything whereas as we get older it focuses only what’s important.

FYI they used that battery for many more years and it is not a lower gas tank issue. The 1100 series has no lower tank and uses the same battery and battery holder. The T shape rides better. I don't like the floating bolts used on the terminal as they misalign easily. The only real issue is lack replacement options.

What size socket did you use
@smallengineshop23 күн бұрын
I can't remember for sure, but I think it was a 14mm 12 point spark plug socket. BMW uses external Torx fasteners for a lot of things, so you also need E Sockets.

I can't remember, but if you go to Harley's website you can find the part you need for your model. Here is the link: www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/c/motorcycle-service-parts?aribrand=HDM

After I uploaded this video to KZbin I went online to find a carburetor diagram for the 1985 Honda Shadow. I was bothered by the fact both pilot screws didn't have springs. What I found out was not only are the pilot screws missing springs, but they're also missing a washer and o-ring. I came back to the shop to look at the carburetors again, and I found both springs sitting in the carbs, but both washers and o-rings are missing. I don't know how that happened, but I have them on order and I will show the new parts in the next carburetor assembly video.

The Harbor Freight Viking charger worked well charging two batteries in good condition, but failed to keep this weaker battery, shown in the video and used on the KLR650, fully charged. The problem I have with it is it goes into charging mode, but doesn't charge the battery. It has happened several times. I plug it in and leave it for several hours only to come back and see the battery hasn't charged at all. I end up using a 1 amp "dumb" manual charger to put some life in the old battery. I can't trust the Viking charger, so I took it back and paid the 20 percent restocking fee. Be suspicious of any item sold at Harbor Freight that has a restocking fee. HF applies the restocking fee to items that get returned at an unusual rate. Since than I purchased the Battery Tender Junior 800mA Battery Charger and Maintainer. So far it works great and is simple to use. I recommend the Battery Tender, but I can't say the same for the Harbor Freight Viking charger. I'm pretty sure the weaker battery on the KLR650 will survive the winter and make it to spring, and will be much easier to keep fully charged now that I have the Battery Tender charger.

I just stumbled onto your voltage drop video from 13 years ago and it’s beautiful in its simplicity. I’ve been getting my head around voltage drop testing for two days now, watching Eric O and Schrödinger’s Box and others, and yours was the most direct, easy to understand and complete! I’ve been teaching myself small engine work for 3 years and before that a couple years of automotive. After watching many automotive videos on this subject I started wondering why I’m not seeing any for small engine work, so yours was very welcome. Thanks! 🔧⚡️👍 PS - I get that many concepts are the same for both - all 12V - but even really experienced small engine channels have nothing on this subject and technique, which seems a shame given how many tractors are exposed to the elements all the time.

So put a reed valve in and reed valve out (to intake) on the crankcase: = 2 intake strokes of the crankcase for every 1 above = supercharger! Sure you'll need fuel injection, but free, compact, light supercharger... Yes you will want crankcase stuffing and 'porting' and a centrifuge oil separator, but you get an interesting video/s (clicks) out of it, for which you wont send me any of the income...

Hoping to get a reply even though this is a few years old. The flywheel key broke on my bad boy magnum with the Kohler 7000 series. Instead of just removing the linkage on the carb, my helper took the brackets off the throttle/choke cable connect to. I THINK I have the brackets correct, but the bolt in the center that holds it all on will not tighten all the way. Is this normal? Is there supposed to be a nut on the back of the brackets that the bolt goes to, or just the threads on the brackets themselves then just tighten as far as it will go?
