How can the car drive without someone sitting. It’s extremely difficult. Yes you do this at 10mph but you aren’t really driving. How would you reach the peddles effectively. It’s nearly impossible to “drive” not sitting

The point is that there’s no purpose for a seat weight sensor in the driver seat, especially not for it to stop telling you to put your seat belt on if you aren’t putting pressure on the seat. That’s just silly.

ill say this, those different color wires give more ohms or resistance in the voltage, this then changes the speed of the motor and that changes the fan speed. The different wires are used to control your speed. blower motors inside are the exact same way, different wires that change the speed normally you do high speed tap for ac and low speed for heating modes.

It wasn’t really my idea to build a fan out of the two tops. I was offering this stuff to a friend of mine with a big shop, and he suggested using the second top to make it like a box. It’s easier to move around like this while I’m waiting for him to pick it up. I couldn’t help myself but play around with electricity since it’s all right there.

My advice, never rent from them. My experience: Do not rent with Cruise America. The contract they make you sign up front is a full “happiness” contract meaning you will have absolutely zero recourse when their horrible shoddy RV breaks down on you mid/trip as it did us. Our fault for not reading the fine print. The RV we picked up was filthy. It was the day before we had to drive from Michigan to Florida for my daughter’s wedding so I just rolled up my sleeves and cleaned it. We got to Atlanta and it simply broke down. They directed us a place to pick up another. Our ONLY option was a spider infested bust less filthy version we took out of desperation. Mid-way on that one we tried to use the bathroom and it began to spew water all over the floor upon flushing. Our plan was our family was going to sleep in the RV on the way to Florida. No can do without a toilet. Cruise America said fix it when you get to Florida ON OUR DIME. So of course we had to get hotel rooms. Once we got to Florida they wanted me to drive that heap miles to a repair shop. IT WAS MY DAUGHTER’S WEDDING. When we got back I wanted half my money back and when I tell you the obnoxious rude nasty way we were treated I can not begin to explain it. They gave us like a $100 discount. Thanks! And I will tell you, our experience was so harrowing our local newspaper did an article about our experience. They have no customer service, their vehicles are not maintained, the one that broke down had a squirrel’s nest in the engine, and they do not care about you the customer. Rent from private individuals. Never this company. Ever!
@mknmike
@mknmike 17 күн бұрын
Wow. Sorry to hear about this terrible experience. We had been given lots of advice prior to our rental in Arizona. I’m going to guess that out west there’s a lot more competition. Renting from a private owner must be hit or miss and likely have ZERO recourse or other options if a privately owned one breaks down. I don’t know everything through. I’d be interested I. Reading the newspaper article if you have a link.

I love your turtle technique! Great for a strong fit person to install the hard top him/herself. However, my hardtop remains forever in storage. The reason is that the clear plastic windows on the soft top will develop creases, scratches, tears and holes from being tucked away. It happened on my original soft top. After I had a new soft top installed, I only put the top down when I am driving it in nice weather. When parked in the garage, the soft top is up and latches engaged fore and aft, so the canvas and windows are stretched smooth and tight.
@mknmike

All Very true. My top is already trashed, and I’ve yet to replace it. So hardtop on and off is fairly common for me. Soft top is just protection for an unexpected storm at this point. Plus, I don’t need to find storage for the hard top.

Bindweed has horrible rhizomes' that run horizontally underground at about 7 to 12 inches below the surface. I have been fighting it in the community garden and others all my life (75F) with little lasting success. Go for the rhizomes bc they will just start extra growth at another nearby node (3 to 5 inches apart).

Thankyou for this comment. I am thinking that the job might be to dig this entire area up, sort the various types of bulbs, and get new dirt. I would imagine that the bindweed seeds/roots won’t be easy to identify even sifting through the dirt. Any opinions on that? Thank you again for your comment!

Mike, where are you located? I remember when the SLC convertible was for sale in Cape Cod Massachusetts. It sold fast. I have a 85 280sl, 94 s 500 and 07 s550 that keep me busy.
@mknmike

The car that I believe you are talking about was a standard blue US Spec big bumper 450slc that was converted by “Niko Michael” coachbuilders. I believe shortly after the Cape Cod sale Johan Volders in Belgium purchased it. He recently moved to Spain. I’m not sure whether he took that car with him. It’s crazy that car is the exact same color as mine and also had blue recaros added, just like my 107.026.12.000478 450slc 5.0. However, while both cars are so similar, mine does not utilize a r107 boot cover like the Niko Michael car. It’s too rear looks a bit more like the square rear of an SL, while my soft top more follows the lines of an SLC. Personally, I like mine better for that reason, not to mention it’s also one of only 2769 5.0 SLCs built. I also recently obtained a 5-speed g76 transmission that I’m considering using to make this car a 5-speed manual. Maybe I will see if I can do some walk around videos of the car soon. It’s in storage just a couple blocks from me now, no longer in the barn.

Thank you. It’s been a few years since I’ve had it out and now have a replacement drivetrain from another 4.5 a friend and I parted out. I just need to decide whether to fix the original motor in-place, or swap it and then maybe fix it out of the car. I think compression is acceptable. Probably only head work is needed. I think it’s valve stems/seals letting oil in.

The crux of your review is that you like most of the modest upgrades and you dislike the lack of stalks, particularly for the turn signal. This is one where I agree. Overall, while I can live without the turning signal stalks, I believe this is one where form and cost cutting override substance. It also makes Tesla adoption less likely since many older drivers or those who strongly prefer stalks, will move to a different EV that feels more like an ICE car, which are growing in number. I fail to see how this change improves driver experience for those who do more than highway driving. With that said, I love the ride of this vehicle so much, I plan get it😊
