It seems like you nailed it, because of your good definition of the threshold intensity. And if you hit sub2:20 it’s because you forgot one rep in the middle of this workout. 😅

What about those of us whose stomachs can’t handle anything before running? Except for some water and Gatorade I don’t consume anything.
@CharlieTeeter-4273 күн бұрын
I know it may seem like you can’t handle anything, but I bet there’s something out there that sits well that you haven’t tried yet. If nothing is really seeming to work, my best advice is to try and slowly train yourself to handle something by starting with a little and getting in more and more over a couple weeks. It really is worth trying to work on training the gut. Gatorade is still good though as the sugar and electrolytes are better than nothing

If you can absorbs magnesium or any other electrolytes from YOUR SKIN man, either you’re a frog or you might have serious problem

1) Yes, I am a frog. 2) That’s what epsom salt is sort of said to do through marketing and user reports of feeling relaxation, but you’re right! Most science isn’t certain if it’s actually absorbed or not 3) I take a magnesium supplement before I sleep every night regardless

Awesome tips! I’m in a very similar situation to you actually lol. Training for CIM and a full time engineer. I have a question: 1) Anything else you do the night before so that your morning run doesn’t hinder your ability to be on time for work?
@CharlieTeeter-4276 күн бұрын
Love it! Totally. I do a lot of meal prepping throughout the weekend and early week to make sure I don’t have much to do after my morning runs except shower, get dressed, and head out the door. I pretty much just think through everything I might need to do before work, then shift as much of it to the night before as possible

I struggle at sleep lately and 9:33 i dont know why. I sleep 8 to 8.30 and now i always wake up at 3am and i cant get back to sleep. My garmin says i am just sleeping less than 7hrs unlike before i can sleep 7hrs more consistently i am so bothered since i have upcoming marathon in dec 1.
@CharlieTeeter-4276 күн бұрын
I’ve been there before. At the end of the day if you’re feeling energized, even if you’re getting less than 7 hours of sleep, then it’s okay. Your body will rest as much as it needs too. We obviously always want to get more sleep, but on those days where you wake up and can’t fall asleep again my best advice is to not stress about it too much. If you’re still laying down or reading or something, your body is resting and that is still productive

Charlie, Are you shooting for any time under 2:20? Also, Clayton Young and Connor Mentz ran 2:08:xx in Paris. What is your plan to get to those types of numbers if you did qualify for the Olympics? What kind of volume and training would you need to get there in the next couple years? Love the videos, man. Keep it up. Also, the log truck....I hope you raced past that thing brother. LOL.
@CharlieTeeter-42717 күн бұрын
Right now, yes I’m just shooting for anything under 2:20. I don’t ever anticipate hitting any numbers close to 2:08:xx, and don’t ever anticipate seriously attempting to qualify for the Olympic team. To qualify for the Olympic trials however, I’ll need to run under 2:18:00. I think I can run that in much less than 3 years from today, but it’s really hard to tell as this is my first time truly going for a fast time from the gun. Hoping I can maybe get down towards 2:14-2:15 come 2028, but don’t really know how to estimate my future abilities right now given that it’s early in my career. Thanks for the question and the support!
@Marty-v6c17 күн бұрын
@@CharlieTeeter-427 Right on, man. Those are great goals. I can see qualifying for the Olympic trials as a massive goal in itself, but if you don't think you could make the team, why shoot for the trial time? Perhaps that is a stupid question! Just curious.

Hahah that’s wild. I’ve miss counted hill sprints before when I was doing 20-30 reps, but this was actually the first time I’ve ever miss counted a longer interval workout.
