Hi there thank you for the review, but I do have a question how long the heat inside of the tent last? TIA
@Competitiveedgeproducts4 күн бұрын
Since the tents, by design, are not insulated, the temperature will begin to drop as soon as the fire is out. Fortunately, the canvas doesn't allow for a breeze or wind draft so it doesn't dissipate instantly, but you'll feel a temperature change within 5-10 minutes of the fire being completely out. I hope that makes sense.

I have the truck bed tent, and it is no gimmick. It is solid and roomy. I love the fact there's no flooring that tears. I use a moving blanket for my floor, and it insulates very well in cold weather. They say it doesn't fit the Rambox, It does... Take out what you need before setting up the tent, and secure the rod bars with load straps. I use 2 for each side.

How does one season the tent to prevent leaks / seeping before 1st use during a Montana winter when it's not recommended to put it through the washer and dryer?
@Competitiveedgeproducts4 күн бұрын
Many customers will season it as normal (with a garden hose, pitcher, etc.) but when hanging to dry in the winter will store it in their garage with a buddy heater or something similar to speed up the process.
@Competitiveedgeproducts3 күн бұрын
And if you are in a bind and you get rained on, chances are you will be fine. It's a precaution Kodiak recommends, but most people do not season it themselves. They let Mother Nature season it and it goes without a hitch.

Choose a better wife who knows how to do shit- there’s heaps of birds out there whom aren’t obsessed with makeup, hair and stupid shoes.
I have this exact same stove I bought back around 1995. It came as a package with the canvas 12 X 18 wall tent. We still use the tent and stove and have it set up right now in the back yard as our “back yard vacation home”. It’s winter now here in Idaho and we love sitting out in our tent while cooking on the wood stove. The differences in the stove I can see from yours is that we have a solid warming tray, not a wire rack, the water tank fits tight to the stove and the water absolutely boils (also leaks a little around the nozzle) and we have a damper about half way up the first stove pipe section. When it’s 25 degrees outside we can have 70 degrees in the tent. We love it. I have to keep a wheel barrel full of wood in the tent to get through the night. I’ve started using a large piece of bubble wrap reflect-ex hanging on the wall behind the stove. It helps reflect heat and protects the tent wall. Also I use a thermal-electric fan on top of the stove to move some air. I keep a large bucket, garden trowel and channel lock pliers next to the stove to pull out the grating and empty the ashes when it gets full.

Where is the door gasket or the damper?
@Competitiveedgeproducts25 күн бұрын
In the hours and hours I spent testing the stove with the stove pipe damper I couldn't tell any difference. I was going to show my side-by-side findings in a video, but figured that would be ultra boring. I think a stove pipe damper makes more sense in a home, but I couldn't tell a bit of a difference when I switched out the bottom stove pipes with the damper with the plain pipe.

Orcas, despite being dolphins, are commonly called "killer whales" due to a mistranslation of the Spanish "asesino de ballenas" (literally "whale killer"), reflecting their historical predation on whales.[7][8] Since the 1960s, the use of "orca" instead of "killer whale" has steadily grown in common use.[9]

@CompetitiveedgeproductsАй бұрын
That's a great question and sorry I didn't make it clear. In good weather by myself it's like 20-30 minutes including one add-on room by myself. If I'm using those lag stakes it shaves off a few minutes.

I'm new to this and I thought that you needed a damper on the pipe, wouldn't adding one help keep the heat in the stove?
@CompetitiveedgeproductsАй бұрын
Yes! That's what I've always thought. I spent hours and hours testing it and making videos with the stove pipe and door dampers and what I discovered is that using just the door damper works great. It's hard to do a fair side-by-side test, because each stove has different sizes of wood, but I tried to get it apples to apples as close as I could. With the stove pipe damper and the door damper (because they all have the door damper) I would say that it cooled it about 20% faster. 20% sounds like a lot, but after 5 minutes they both cool down to burn in the safe zone. So the 20% would have saved about 1 minute.....no significant difference. I've had problems with the pipe damper. In the first demo I did it kept closing...maybe the spring was worn out so I had to keep adjusting it and restarting my test. I definitely see why they got rid of the stove pipe damper. I feel like that would make more sense in a large home fireplace where you are trying to avoid cool air coming through the pipe when not in use. For a home it may help save on your heating bill over the winter, but not for a tent. I have no intention to ever use the pipe damper again. I hope that helps. If you have any questions, please ask away.

Silicone ring is a pretty big limiting factor in these kodiak tents. Considering mine out of my tent, way too easy to over fire it that ring.
@Competitiveedgeproducts25 күн бұрын
Burning a regular fire you'll never have to worry about that ring. I've burned soft and hard wood for about 5-6 years in the winter and haven't ever had an issue. The people that I've talked to that destroyed the ring where people who were burning pine cones and not logs. In my videos it's just been overly cautious and I worry I may have over-emphasized burning properly, but it's mostly for safety.

What has more sidewall space? So wall to wall (not floor dimensions). The 12x9 or 10x14. Just curious which one has more walking space. I plan on buying one of the two this month from you all

Hello, I’m looking at the 12x9 cabin tent. I’m curious what the dimensions are from the wall to wall? So where the top of the sidewalls are (not the floor dimensions if that makes sense)
@Competitiveedgeproducts25 күн бұрын
The walls are 4' high, then they slope inwards. Is that what you're asking?
@aotec8925 күн бұрын
@ I was curious if the cabin had more “walkable” space since the walls are More straight up. So instead of floor dimensions, like a walkable wall to wall dimensions. Sorry to be confusing
@Competitiveedgeproducts25 күн бұрын
@ I wouldn’t say the 12x9 has more walkable space, but the overall feel does definitely feel that way to me. Meaning, it feels more like a room or shelter than a tent.

I love this set-up and highly recommend it to anyone that is watching this video. It is easy to setup by yourself, 2 people makes it easier and faster. Holds heat very well, my coolest night was about 30F and my buddy heater kept inside between 75F and 80F. Hadn't used it in warm weather yet.
