Ahh great I was at York for it but on its first trip I was there did you see it?
@Banjostrings07Productions4 күн бұрын
I didn’t finish work until the early hours of this morning so didn’t bother going out for the first trip. It’s always a nice shot at York but very busy.

The Derby Sulzers were the background music to my childhood. Listening to the 24s 25s and others been thrashed up the grade from Crewe to Kidsgrove was magic and rocked me off to sleep,

I live near my Thurso Station and I always remember the sound of those engines starting, idling and running. You could hear it from miles away as we played by the track.

The pedestrians using the overpass certainly get a douse of diesel fumes! I wonder if he purposely waited until he passed the overpass before throttling up?

After 049 and 078 in the last few weeks, 051 and 302 are the next 56s to fail on this working! I believe one of the 56s had braking problems
@Banjostrings07ProductionsАй бұрын
I heard the same about the brake issue. Not looking too good for the 56s though, hopefully Colas don’t start looking at the reliability of the locos and withdraw them.
@CDMTransportАй бұрын
@@Banjostrings07ProductionsYeah, I don't think they would be able to withdraw the 56s... they have fleet problems as it is...

Lovely to see a maroon Western!! They’re one of the finest locomotives apart from the 37, which is my favourite diesel locomotive.

Why is it common for the BR Class 37 to have a 'on/off' style throttle pattern when accelerating?
@Banjostrings07ProductionsАй бұрын
I think this one is to do with driver applying power and backing off. You get a similar effect with wheel slip as the loco powers up and wheel slip is detected the wheel slip relay shuts off the power and then immediately reapplies power once the wheel slip isn’t occurring. I am pretty certain 37/4s (the one in this clip) do this automatically however the 37/0 need the power handle returning to off before reapplying power to the traction motors. If anyone has any more info on this please do drop a comment.
