This is great. How are you triggering the sequence? Is it triggered by a key press then runs via LFO or is it triggered by the LFO? I'm new to Hyperion and trying to create an LFO triggered generative patch. Thanks.
@wavesequencer9 күн бұрын
There are some generative patch design walkthrough videos on the sister youtube channel - HyperionSynth. In general there are two main ways I generate note sequences - using the MIDI values stepper node (16 steps of values between 0-127 - with selectable end/loop point), or using the 'scale mapper' node - both those can feed into the 'Note sender' node where you can select an output channel and note hold time/velocity (or feed velocity in from a modulation source) - you can send notes to any of the internal 16 MIDI channels, or you can send them to external MIDI channels, so you can set up patches to drive other synths in your DAW too. You can use pulse type LFOs to trigger the note sender node, or if you leave the trigger un-connected, it sends a note any time the note value changes. Use the same kind of LFO to drive sequences (normally you set the LFO to be Unipolar and have a max value of 1.0 - so it will properly trigger T input pins).

Also, if you filter the patch list, there are some generative patch examples in the factory set.

I've heard things you people wouldn't believe. Sounds on fire off the shoulder of Hyperion. I experienced modular patching glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost without Wavesequencer, like a generative patch in rain.

Excellent Hyperion showcase ... 16-layer Combi self-generating patch, so way beyond my Hyperion sound design skills lol
@wavesequencer11 күн бұрын
It’s relatively simple sound design wise really - just tweaked factory patches. Once you figure out the step sequence and note generator node it might all become clear. I’ll do a design walkthrough another time.

Nice! Looking forward to the unnamed feature that's yet to be released.
@wavesequencer13 күн бұрын
The feature is the ability to record audio to wav file stems for each layer + a mix of all the layers. It’s just a realtime recorder feature for the standalone application (record button and time count currently is a hidden option). Handy for getting multitrack stems from this kind of generative music.

absolute beast of a synth that leaves the competition far behind! I think the main reason it flew a little bit under the radar is that this synth is not an easy ‘consumer’ synth but a synth for real synth lovers who love to create their own sounds in a deep modular way. i have only scratched the surface of this gem. everytime i start playing even just the presets keep blowing me away. keep up the great work Paul and i am looking forward to your next release!

Wow... Replicant City at 1:50 is awesome. I will try to replicate it on my KORG Wavestation.
@wavesequencer Жыл бұрын
That will be tough.. maybe the Wavestate more likely to offer the capabilities with the samples/resonant filter and more modulation options, but it's limited to one layer of 4 tones, vs Wavestation up to 8 layers (yet limited polyphony/no samples). One of the patches (upAndDownRelease2) uses a trick to flip the auto pitch bending on every note release. The windchimes are samples as is the 'wateryBackdrop' - in all 8 layers. The Wavestation very much inspired me to enable lots of layering in Hyperion.

@@wavesequencer I have a Wavestation SR model with a tiny 2-line 16-character display, and the only way to program this synth is to use a computer with editing software. Great sounding synth, but the programming and file system are crazy as hell compared to other synths. The Kurzweil K2000 of the same age is much more convenient and flexible - Wavestation is not even close.
@wavesequencer Жыл бұрын
@@_oscillator I have both the Wavesation EX and Wavestation SR. The SR was always just a soundbank machine for sure - I just have it now to save space. The full Wavestation keyboard was not that bad to edit really (the soft-key interface is logical - but I always dreamt of having some knobs and sliders), just the horrible patch/wavesequence saving architecture with shared wavesequences and patches makes patch creation frustrating. The VST version is pretty good though.

Very Nice! I have a Laptop, Audio Interface and Full Range Speakers for my Guitars. Can I Play my Guitar through this Theia Syn? Will this work with an Electric Guitar?
@wavesequencer Жыл бұрын
Theia doesn't support audio input, however Hyperion synth (which contains the same sound set) does - via the sidechain input: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5XMY5lrlNuKqMksi=Pe-dmXGRMEEzvpAG - there are also some free plugin hosts that allow to use Hyperion as a bus effects processor in your DAW rather than just sidechain. You can design some pretty crazy modular effects chains on multiple layers (limit only depending on your CPU power).

I couldn't find the preset for the "Welcome to Theia" after changing to some other preset. If it is not in the preset library for the user to find, could you consider adding it there, I liked it! Or maybe I am just blind and it is there somewhere...
@wavesequencer Жыл бұрын
it is actually just the same as the '1OscModWheelSawPadStack' patch.. I know - not the best preset name 😄
@wavesequencer Жыл бұрын
I should probably just add it as a unique patch in the list with the same name, but then it's a duplicate.. just wanted have a default 'welcome patch' that is fairly general usage and not too weird.
@somberwindsofficial8771 Жыл бұрын
@@wavesequencer Or just rename the '1OscModWheelSawPadStack' as the "Welcome to Theia" or similar :) Anyway, your (really cool) product, you decide of course.

@@wavesequencer No problem, I actually work as a validation/testing engineer in the embedded software field, so that might show... :D I found some other things for your consideration, but of course it is up to you. Don't mind me if this is too much :D 1) If I save a patch and then make some modifications to the control knobs, it seems that those changes are not stored when I try to save it again with the same name. 2) In addition, the save always gives the fields (author, collection, etc.) as empty, so when trying to make some minor modifications, I cannot sort of save an existing one, but have to create a new patch. As all the preset patches already have these, maybe the fields could be automatically filled with the ones assigned to the patch I am modifying? 3) Just a question, is there a feature to change the background image related to the patch? I think I read somewhere that there is, but I cannot find it..
