Have you had any issues with the X7 that Skunkie and others pointed out regarding the potential design & safety issue in the amp with a way too large power rating on the cathode resistor used on the KT88, causing it to red plate tubes and nothing inside the amp stops it? Also, where did you purchase yours? I've been really interested in the amp but nervous about potential issues.

Yes, most Technics stuff is absolutely well made. Unfortunately they are unable to make platters, they all have massive wobble up to 1mm up and down! See my videos. There must be something wrong with the raw material they use or they do not handle the recristallisation process right, after the casting. They machine the platters too short after the casting!

Really, "I feel I get a lot moer power" when using theA6080 tube. Did you acctualy measure the power against noise and distortion or did you just "feel" more power by burning your fingers? And if you have to turn the gain down, why bother, you just have less usable range to operate the volume control in. So nothing gained.

You say the A/B speaker switch is for bi-wiring, I thought it was to power 2 pairs of speakers simultaneously, those designated A and those designated B.

Those are on my wish-list and am so looking forward to trying them with my Astel&Kern AK HC3 DAC. For right now I have the KZ-ZS10 Pro IEMs that are decent enough. I am actually on my 2nd pair of those after losing one of them because of the Cable-Socket wearing down, and the IEM coming lose. Thanks for making this video!

I've been planning on ditching my R26 for this DAC. What you describe with the cymbals reminds me of what I got out of my Musician Pegasus I had previously. Seems like this will fit right inbetween with better components. The R26 just lacks some R2R sound and doesn't have the soundstage depth. Plus lots of features I'll never use. I thought I had an issue with the Musician, but it was just windows dropping the signal to the DAC coming out of "sleep" mode.

I have the Fosi V3:and no doubt it's a great value for the price. I'm currently running a pair of Maggie's with it and it does a very good job. It is audiophile quality and fun. However, it seems to lack some body and I can't quite put my finger on it. My Class A tube monos are still the go to listener in the end but again the Fosi V3 quality for the money cannot be argued against. They will never be an heirloom amplifier as the electronics are packed so close as the unit runs hot so it has numbered days. Still it's a great buy for what you get.

I use ddHiFi TC44C (with its adaptive output impedance so they say) to drive my Pilgrim. I’d say they match really really well. The Pilgrim gives great clarity and detail retrieval, no background noise at all. Pretty natural and technical, which is the way I like. Using Spinfit W1 eartips makes it even better, improved soundstage and treble extension.

On my phono preamp the Linlai E-6SN7 play a little meager i.e. they produce a rather thin sound without a strong, authoritative bottom end. Far from special. IME the late Psvane CV-181 smoke glass play fantastic. Quite another planet

Thanks for the review. I have a question for you - Since you have both the TA-26s and the LinLai 6SN7 tube, I was wondering if you could please let me know if it fits in the front of the TA-26s without hitting the power tube? I wanted to get this amp with this pre tube, but wasn't sure if it would actually fit as I can see the space between the pre and power tube is much closer than on the Darkvoice and the fact that the LinLai 6SN7 glass envelope is much wider than the stock pre tube. Thanks very much if you're please able to confirm.

I just got this amp and I'm trying out different speakers with it and I have a Cambridge Audio DAC Magic 200M for my digital sources, but I also have a real to real and a turntable. With some of my tape decks I use the BASS and TREBILE controls and I'm constantly adjusting them from FLAT for new digital sources to adding TREBILE and or BASS for some tapes. When adjusting the tone controls, I hear the tone defeat relay turning off and on a lot like 6 times or so a day depending how many times I adjust them. Is this OK adjusting these like this or is it going to wear out the TONE DEFEAT RELAYS?

I found the VM95C superior to the VM95E. I do use a VM540ML in a system with modern electronics and (admittedly first generation) Martin Logan electrostatic speakers. So, my treble range isn't exactly dull. The VM540ML is superb in that respect. And the imaging, especially with large orchestral works recorded using true stereo (spaced omni, ORTF, or Blumlein microphone techniques) is amazing. Btw, if you're using pan-pot, multi-track studio recordings to gauge soundstage / imaging accuracy.... really? You lost me there.
