"is Warhammer like Warrior Cats?" as a Warhemmer fan I'm deeply offended by the mere suggestion! but the answer is yes, pretty much. On a more serious note, Warhammer is at it's core a Tabletop War game franchise (well, 3 franchises: Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40k and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar), that had it start in the early 80's. During it's 40 years of existence it span off into hundreds of books, dozens of video games, several TTRPG systems and now even animation shows, not to mention all the spinoff wargames and board games.

I, personally, just see goblins as silly little guys, I don't really see the antisemitism in them very much.
@LostInNumbers2 сағат бұрын
This is a case of Lilly drawing with a very wide brush. Goblins are sometimes used by antisemites as an insult against Jews, or as a metaphor for their antisemitic conspiracies. We also have J.K Rowling decision to have the Harry Potter goblins be a bunch of greedy bankers without thinking about how most "greedy banker" stereotypes are antisemitic in nature. (making the bankes goblins added insult to injury, but Gringotts and it's bankers would have come off as riffing antisemitic canards whether it was run by Dwraves, Dragons or Human Wizards.) Still, most stories, games, ect. don't use Goblins in a particularly antisemitic manner. The depiction of goblins by Tolkien, D&D, Warhammer, Pathfinder, Marvel Comics (green goblin) and many others can't really be connected to antisemitic tropes, and neither can the goblin-core aesthetics or many folklore depictions (there are some cases of antisemitic goblin folklore, such as the Cornish Knocker who are said to be the ghosts of cursed Jews, but such origin is not present in stories about similar creatures such as the Coblyn or Kobold) Personally as a Jewish person myself I don't want Lilly Orchard speaking for us on the matter of antisemitism. She doesn't either the knowledge or nuance to deal with the subject. Not to mention the fact that vaguely antisemitic analogues in fictions are the *least* of our problems. Real antisemitism targets real Jews in the real world.

I might go back and say something about the other points if I revisit this video, but #91 in particular made me wanna say something. To anyone unfamiliar with Lily Orchard's take on Disney movies, she is likely saying this because she personally interprets Beauty and the Beast as a story about stockholm syndrome and thinks Belle and Beast's relationship is abusive. Considering how she interprets relationships in media like Steven Universe and She-Ra (and considering the type of stuff she's put in her own writing), I have a feeling her definition of abuse is dangerously skewed.

wrt "rule" 46: It's abundantly clear that Ms. Orchard hasn't read things like My Immortal (fanfiction) or Empress Theresa (self-published book). I'm not sure that would change her tune, though, she's pretty repugnant as a person... ETA: We have a REALLY good example of why "rule" 62 doesn't work! @YurieTheAkward FUN FACT: Lily Orchard has broken her own rules both in the past and currently, She has made a CP mlp fanfic named Stockholm, has commissioned a herself "doing things" with a dog, groomed her audience, did horrible things to her sister while actively using darvo to deny it, and some much more that I'm probably not aware of. EDIT: Forgot to mention her incest fetish

The main thing that pisses me off in regards to Lily is that she has no clue about the atchetypical foundations of human storytelling and just outright ignores them while at the same time proclaiming her schizophrenic delusions regarding reality as the true way of how things should be perceived.

Believe it or not, what first drew my attention to Lily Orchard was actually the couple videos she did related to Star Wars. At first I was like "okay, these are some 'meh' takes but not too egregious, I guess-" Then she started talking about how heroes who don't kill villains are bad people and and all her other weird takes and I was like "WHAT THE HELL IS EVEN THAT?!" Also her Sith OC is a socialist, which makes no sense, but I think I've done enough 🤓-ing out for now. Lily Orchard when Steven Universe doesn't brutally murder the Diamonds in a children's show (it means he's a fascist sympathizer): 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

If i will make a Sonichu Remake i will have to remove many things like Chris himself, many of the enemies like The Jerkops, Mary Lee Walch, the trolls and the other enemies of Chris and finally removing things that are considered racist, offensive and adult. Their will be many changes in The Sonichu Remake like having Blackchu’s origin being that he was created by Giovanni and Dr Robonik by mixing Sonichu’s DNA with the DNA of other animals like the DNA of the Cheetah, Electric Eel, Gorilla, Great Horned Owl, Salwater Crocodile and Mako Shark oh and his name will be change to Shadowchu. Other story change include having characters fighting the forces of evil more specifically Team Rocket and Dr Robonik’s robot army and monsters and villains from various mythologies like those from Greek, Norse, Chinese, Japanese, Hindu, Aztec, Aboriginal, Native America, African and other lesser known mythologies. Other changes for this includes having the characters doing normal things like taking walk, playing, walking and looking at the nature in the park, doing sports, going to school and going places like stores, shopping centers, zoos, movie theaters, swimming in the beach and camping in the woods. The setting will the city of Normaltopolis a city were everyone have normal and peaceful lives. And finally many of the characters in the Sonichu Remake will have of their own characters arcs.

since i dont see anyone commenting it: "Bury Your Gays" is a trope in which gay characters are killed off in a piece of media. This (at least in the states) was a trope created out of homophobia- but not for the reasoning youre thinking. If an author wanted to include queer characters (and very often they were *gay* characters), they would have to comply to the writing standard that those characters were "punished" in some way for being queer. So, very often, authors would have those characters die, because their books literally could not be published if they lived happily every after. Thus the trope "Bury Your Gays". A popular example of this is the book "Satan Was A Lesbian" by Fred Haley. While nowadays it is a *bit* silly to include, there is genuine queer history behind the trope. Likewise, queer characters dying does not mean you are leaning into the trope. Sometimes there is reason to include a queer character dying- because we DO get murdered, and that may be an important plot point. I do agree that defaulting to killing your queer characters isn't a great way to write, killing them isn't a sin. (I am Trans and Aro/Ace, I very much can speak on if this is a good trope or not)

For the She-Ra thing, although it was rushed, in my mind and opinion, that was an enemies to lovers story that was actually enemies to lovers and not sugarcoated. Because really think about it, in enemies to lovers, they have to be enemies. Enemies who are on opposing sides of a war thay each think their ideals are right. And one of them 'betrayed' the other seemingly out of nowhere, why wouldn't they be killing each other? Before anyone says anything, I'm not condoning abuse, I'm sayimg for a genre as vast as enemies to lovers, we sure get fast to call it abuse when the enemies...are actually fighting for their ideals and being mean and cruel to each other instead of one of them flirting and trying to get high sexual tension going so that they think about each other in a BDSM rival way.

One of the wildest and most offensive things on this list to me is her claim that LGBT✨Q✨IA+ folks (take note of that Q) shouldn’t be allowed to say the word QUEER because it’s offensive to her, and continually and INTENTIONALLY writes our acronym as “LGBTA”. I identify as queer. The Q in our community’s acronym stands for Queer. Queerness is an identity in itself AND a reclamation of a word that used to be derogatory. It’s one hell of a powerful identity that’s used in activism and radicalism. It’s EXTREMELY reductive and harmful to claim that an entire community isn’t allowed to reclaim a term with such a powerful history, and going so far as to bastardize the acronym is honestly disgusting (also notice how she omits the “I” too… wonder what fucked-up ideas she has around intersex folks.) It’s fine and understandable if you personally dislike being called queer, but attempting to erase an entire IDENTITY because it makes you uncomfortable is a really fucking dangerous mindset, jesus christ. (Also as a related side note, Lily also hates Black people who reclaim the N-word and has publicly called them ignorant and trashy, or something to that effect. While TYPING THE WORD OUT HERSELF. *WITH THE HARD FUCKING R.*)

If there is one tip I will agree with, it is that writing good characters should be a writer’s first priority. Characters are what gets the audience emotionally invested in the story. Even if the rest of the story is an absolute mess, the audience will typically be willing to (at least temporarily) look past that if they care about the characters. (Of course, the audience has to be open to caring about the characters, which Lily often isn’t.)

My opinions, A list: 1) No? As stated by those two kind souls, MANY stories are BUILT on solving a puzzle and slow set-up. Some people (myself included) like spoilers, others hate it. It's literally a matter of reader's interest. She could have just said: "Make sure your plot twists and endings are satisfying, have build-up and are logical to the plot and message". 2)Again, not really. If the romance is a side plot, it's more than logical to want the characters to go through certain points of their character arcs. Also, sometimes it's literally not about romance and the relationship is allowed to be at the end. Also, it's ok for a romance to end with the couple getting together. Again, there's a market for that. (Yes, I like historical fiction, how could you tell? lol) 3) Personally, I find this tip a bit odd. As an author she should be somewhat aware that enemies to lovers usually have a friendship stage in the middle. Also, just because there are less cheesy examples, doesn't mean it's easy to mess up. Like, when does the shift of "This is my bff" to "This is my bf" happen? Why didn't they address it before? Suddenly, you realize that any trope has its cliches and pitfalls if you lack good understanding. Also, again who are your AUDIENCE?! 4) I- HUH?! That's literally the first half of the redemption arc. Recognizing their flaws and THEN actively working to fix them. Also, abuse victims aren't angels. Yes, abuse is deeply damaging but "I want to kill you because I have daddy issues" IS a flaw PAIRED with abuse. In Zuko's case, his desire to satisfy those around him in order to elevate himself, even when they're clearly wrong, was one of his flaws that was amplified by his abuse. (also, I'm pretty sure Zuko had a heart-to-heart with each of the main characters and worked on himself A LOT. I don't really remember, though) 5) Ma'am, that's grey morality in a nutshell. Murder is a deeply scarring experience for the killer, too. Knowingly taking a life isn't a walk in the park for deeply troubled individuals, let alone a sane man. Also, the themes of the story are VERY important. Also, redemption arcs exist, though I doubt you have much appreciation for said trope. 6) Careful, m'lady. Your "Friends to lovers > Enemies to lovers" is REALLY showing. Like, I'm not sure about the she-ra thing but, with proper buildup, it can be done as a side plot. 7) This is also subjective to the fanbase, the work and the nature of the creator. Maybe it's a little fun fact about a huge universe of multiple works they have that they didn't need to write. As long as it's not major information, it's not really a problem. (signed by your average dev blog/vlog enjoyer) 8) Thank you, redemption doesn't equal angel. It means they won't do it AGAIN. Also, punishment and causality are on the table, y'know? 9) I have no clue about this one tbh... 10) Need I introduce you to *unfolds giant list* every single fiction villain? Ironically, explaining "bigoted" parts of a fictional culture isn't the same as excusing it. Excusing it is bad (which also exists, if that's what they mean). 11) Yeah, unless you are ACTIVELY fighting pdf-iles in the book, don't do that. 12)look back at 11 13)look back at 11 (also, yeah, turns out point ten is about "excusing" not "explaining") 14) Making a character is categorically different from diving into the essence of the character without the prejudice. Each has its own literary usage. 15) Low-key? I agree. Go for it or just don't but doing THIS is petty like "LoOk! rEpReSeNtAtIoN" 16) I'll do you one better. AVOID EMPTY STEREOTYPES. If it is actually something in their personality, tone it down to the believable level . But, yeah. 17) look back at point 16 18) I wouldn't say "non-human" and I don't see an issue with it. This is more of an overused trope than a malicious intent like stereotyping (is also a metaphor) 19) look back at point 16 20) look back at point 16 21) look back at point 16 22) look back at point 16 23) If you force anyone to do that, you better ironfist that abuser SO bad for it as a message. Other than that, ew 24) Nah, this actually vile, man. Not even point 16 can work with that... 25) M'fair lady, It depends on the character and the story... I'm tired and it's midnight, If you want more, tell me.
