Sandra, Yes, the windows could be utilized separately after the de-mulling process, however, there would be no nailing fin on the side where the mull was previously, so some adaption would need to be made to install it properly.

Are you saying that I would need to drill small screws holes to make a replacement style window and screw window to jam opening. Or would silicone adhesive be enough without the screws and holes on non nailing fin side??

Christian, thank you for asking. You should still be able to tilt the sashes in and remove them even with a jamb extension. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Mike, thank you for checking, the window will not detach from the frame until the sash has reached a 90 degree angle from the frame. While the window sash appeared to be at a 45 degree angle when the directions were given, you will notice it rotates to a full 90 degrees before being removed. It truly depends on the type of installation that you are working on. There may be an installation where putting the window in prior to adding the brick mold allows the window to be retrofitted into a preexisting opening without damaging the surrounding siding, etc.. The contractor or builder is able to make that assessment prior to ordering the windows and therefore can select to have the brick mold come unattached.

Yes, the cap pops off. You run the screw through the channel, then the cap can be placed back on to cover it.

To answer your first question, the best option for glass removal when there is heavy paint build-up is to "score" the joint where the glazing bead and sash rail meet with a carpenter's knife or single edged razor blade. This will keep the paint from "tearing", or leaving a rough line at the joint. Then stops can be removed as shown in video.In answer to the second question, if there is still water present behind the cladding, it needs to be drained. This can be accomplished in a couple of ways. It may be as simple as removing a section of the sealant at the base of the cladding joint to allow water to drain. Allow to dry thoroughly, and reseal. To speed the process, compressed air can be blown into the cladding joint, but make sure to remove a section of sealant on opposite corner. Depending on type of unit, Double Hung or Casement, removing sealant may require removing either weatherstripping or vinyl seal first. Once allowed to dry, inspect to see if sash is still structurally solid. If sash is still solid, reseal all cladding joints before re-installing.
