Wow. They've really sunk a lot of money into this base since I was there. As a matter of fact, they were almost at the point of closing it down and the only thing that kept it there at the time was the hospital, which was considered the best AF medical facility in the UK. Mostly airmen and not a lot of WAFs but that was slowly changing by my tours end. Love the fact you can take a tour of the base. I would love to go back and see how it has all changed.

The magnificent Vulcan and the three smaller F-15s flying together in joy and friendship! Always gives me goosebumps to watch the ineffable mojo and beauty of these diverse yet related aircraft, created for death and destruction yet stunning beyond all others.

We did that tour a few years ago, and also one at Mildenhall. A chap in Watton used to organize them, he has since unfortunately passed away. Then I think it was £15 each. You needed a vehicle to take a minimum of 12 people plus room for the tour guide. They could tailor the tour to suit your needs. At Lakenheath there was a display by the dog handlers, a video in the briefing theatre, then out to look at an F-15 close up. Lunch was included, then in the afternoon coffee and donuts in the bowling alley. At Mildenhall we went inside a KC-135, and met their special forces people. They really make you feel welcome. I don't know if they will start again after Corvid has gone ?

I know the two types of aircraft are from different eras but looking at them flying together you know if they were on a bombing mission they would get through to the target and blow the crap out of the enemy. 🇺🇸 and 🇬🇧 together!

What a great video, thanks for sharing. Two aircraft types from different eras together and it shows just how big the Eagle is as a fighter. Such a stunning sky too. Seeing the Vulcan in formation with these F-15s gave me chills. Lovely stuff.

Guy Wilson: Thank you buddy your most kind, the day had very mixed blessings, we managed to dodge the showers luckly, compared to the airshows she was much higher with the Eagles, but LN is my local base and the '15 is my most favourite jet, so it had to be captured on video. Again many thanks :-)
@guywilson1877 жыл бұрын
You did a great job mate. Like you, the F-15 is also my favourite aircraft. I live near RAF Waddington so saw the Vulcans regularly growing up. Now I really need to get down to Lakenheath sometime before the USAF pull the Eagles out.
@cambsflyer427 жыл бұрын
Guy Wilson: Oh the Eagles are going to be there for many years yet mate, don't believe to much what circulates. Again many thanks, if your on Facebook send me an email [email protected] and I'll exhange details, as I've hundreds of photographs which may be right up your street. I've been to the Wave a few times and know John fairly well, he's a oidl bloke, we do Mildenhall and CGY Too, as it sounds like your part of our crowd, so it'll be good to see another fellow snapper, and it's always very friendly at Lakenheath, so hopefully see you there in the near future :)
