Promotional live after the release of Yoshino Fujimaru's album in 1982. After this live performance, AB's was formed around these members. It's rare 1982 live video footage just before the AB's were formed. Listened to this song one day in 2014 while digging for random music on youtube. I still remember the feeling of listening to it for the first time .. if only I could go back to the moment 🥹 I've listened to so much "city pop" since then but this song and the whole First Light album will be my absolute favorites. 松下さんありがとう 🙏

I found it on a random Spotify suggested playlist and just absolutely fell in love with the whole First Light album. It’s so crazy to me that I found an album that came out before my dad was even born and it became one of my favorites.

I doubt it. The younger generation of the Japanese public at that time appreciated their music, bought their albums, and enjoyed them. I think it was the Japanese music industry and TV media of the time that did not give them much coverage because they wanted to protect their vested interests in the music industry by selling big-name singers and idols from before that time. They used them as players, composers, and arrangers behind the scenes, keeping them away from TV and other media and preventing from the talented musicians as new forces growing. Therefore, their music was enthusiastically supported only by some young people, but was unknown and did not penetrate the general public of a wide generation. And it was the Western music industry and labels that assisted the old powers as well. Many Japanese musicians, because of their musical roots, naturally dreamed of working in the Western and global markets. However, Western labels have spectacularly ignored Japanese musicians, and they have not had the opportunity to sign sales contracts for their works in the West, and even to release them. If their works had been distributed overseas in real time during their heyday, some of them might have been very successful. If that had happened, their reputation and the way they were treated in Japan would have changed 180 degrees. (The fact is that even people like Tatsuro Yamashita, Masayoshi Takanaka, and Mariya Takeuchi could not get contracts outside Japan.) With the advent of the Internet after the millennium, the environment changed, and their works did not receive the recognition they deserved until they came into direct contact with the ears of people in the world without going through a label. Undervalued and limited in both the overseas and Japanese markets, some of them continued to make a living by providing music for video games, animation, and movies that had grown up in Japan since the 1990s, as a sideline for their daily lives. Today, when people around the world listen to JPOP, J-Jazz, J-Metal, etc., they are told that their music resembles Japanese video game music or is like anime music, but that is the opposite of the order of occurrence of the facts.
