The entire symphony performed with tremendous passion and skill! Congratulations to all.

Transcendental performance. Beautiful music in the new concert hall, congratulations in order for all involved, and especially Dr. Grandis for superb leadership and sensitive attention to detail. WOW! Also nice to see and hear the new organ put to use in this ideal setting. Thank you Mr Marshall!

Pleasant to hear - once, but rather unexceptional in melodic content and construction. One of many such compositions, and composers that, of necessity, have 'fallen through the cracks' and been all but forgotten.

A composer we hold dear once wrote: "To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.”

Oui, mais ce ne sont pas des élèves de conservatoire, 99% ne se destinent pas à une carrière musicale, il faut donc comparer cela à un orchestre amateur en France.

I must say that, of all the segments of this finale offered on KZbin, this is my favorite. I do not have the credentials to critique the various aspects of voice, technique and musicality that some of the other viewers have offered... yet, as-stated, though all the other renditions feature highly talented, well-known professionals... this is still the winner for me.

Love this performance. Maybe the first part of the slow movement could have a touch more momentum - those brass flourishes just play with our sense of tempo before it breaks out into the march (which is superb here), and, I do wish Americans and others would learn not to clap between movements, even a little bit - but, this gets the job done, no questions. Congratulations!

One of concert which performing an early Dvorak symphony. But on 10:16 - 10:48, I never heard this part.
@grandisdavid7 ай бұрын
It is the first version of the symphony, and in retrospect, I should have picked Dvorak's later revision which is better, but we didn't have the material for it. At least, it provides a musicological on what the original version sounded like.

Hi Mike, We're so glad we could inspire you! Everyone you see performing in this video is a student- and although some study music, others study liberal arts or sciences. Some of us started playing at a very young age- others found their love for their instrument later on. We are all united in our love for music- and that's something that, in our opinion, would make you a pretty good musician too. We hope that no matter where you want your playing to take you, joy follows. Happy playing!

How wonderful to see this segment-the opera rarely performed in my country (Australia) Beautiful work, Massenet, here and in the Mediation, conjured up one of the most heartbreaking melodies in al of music. What a feat!!

Not a suitable voice unfortunately. Lacking in the power the role demands. Plus to add the baritone has no power whatsoever so definitely not for him either. The runs up to the D6 need to be slower to accentuate what Thaïs is feeling. They're too fast because the soprano doesn't have the breath control to dealwith the huge demands of the music. No proper technique nor the voice for Thaïs

Judging when she's singing a concert version and a huge orchestra of non music major students who don't really know how to play truly pianissimo are not even in the pit. Shut up idiot.
