When I first skated there the bottom of the small banks were lined all the way along with street homeless. You still had methers or skippers back then, which don’t really exist anymore. We used to bunk off school and go there. Weds night was best though. Brixton Chris, the deaf guy whose name escapes me right now - lovely bloke, Sweeney the slalom skater, Shane, John from Ealing, Frankie Shea, Paul Brown B, Don n Jed if they were up from south coast, Will from Meanwhile 2. Nazeem and all the youngsters from Croydon. Great memories. I should’ve stuck it out😢

the only thing i dont like about sb is there is druggies in the corner doing coke and stuff but southbank is a very nice place to be if ur a good or bad skater you will not get laughed at they will support you as the skating community does and i am a younger kid when they say maintenance it goes on inside the blocked off bit of southbank so it hasnt got anything to do with us skaters its inside southbank if you under stand me

Skated southbank from 14 years old, when it was the regulars like Clive and them, (and the Canadian dude with the fucked leg but I forget his name), and Acne the writer, forget his actual name but he was a dope dude too, Tariq and all them. Still swing by sometimes in my old age of 37. Still a great scene there, dope dudes. So glad they managed to save it!
