Ricky Carmichael is the greatest AMA outdoors MX and Supercross rider ever without a doubt. I've watched Ricky before he turned Pro and I knew then he was more than special. Ricky Carmichael is the greatest U.S. rider ever in both mentioned above and I would never bet against him but there's 1 bet I would take. If we could turn the clock back I would like to see Roger DeCoster on his team Suzuki RM 370 vs. Ricky Carmichael on whatever Ricky wants to race. I'm sorry but my money goes on DeCoster on a outdoors overseas track 9 out of 10 times.

DeCoster was The Man but Ricky is The GOAT in American Motocross Racing.I think anybody that knows how good Roger was would Love to see theses two Legends race against each other when they were both in their Prime.While we're at it throw in Bob Hannah and maybe a few more Legends.

Everts did bring it back though. I think Pichon and others around around that time 2004ish also started to copy this. Probably suited the way the tracks were graded and prepared.

Everts was alot older than Carmichael, on a slower bike and was a 10x champion outdoors, as far as outdoors is concerned Everts is the best, but Carmichael is the GOAT since he was at the top in both motocross and supercross. Everts in his prime would take Carmichael, just like he did to Stewart and villopoto even at an old age.

This was at a charity event called "Everts and friends" that Stefan used to organise. One of the races was called "GP stars", where retired racers (like Everts and Carmichael) raced against current MXGP racers. Ricky also held one of his RCU's at the same track that year. There were other fun races where Carmichael, Herlings, De Dycker etc. raced kids on 85cc bikes. Watch this video from 1:35 for a brief interview with Carmichael (kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3rCd5togKdjirs) There's some footage in it of the 85cc race as well.
