Corporate raiders from Texas, via a hostile takeover in 1985, bought the majority share of the company’s stocks, and with this controlling interest, began to sell off massive swaths of land. Without the land and it’s lumber, the company could not survive. Before the takeover, however, the company was solvent.

actually, the most factual, shortest hiway is about a half-mile west of the capital building...275...the tower bridge... is one-third the length... but, like california politics, don't let facts get in the way...
@RoadTripGuys4 жыл бұрын
You're right... but of course it didn't start that way. Hwy 275 has been truncated several times, and it's not half as fun! ;)

@@RoadTripGuys ...well, how much fun do you want in a tenth of a mile?...but, it's a good place to watch the fireworks and you can't beat the riverview...and, it's probably the only state hiway that raises to let boats through...oh, and, it's probably the only state hiway that is painted gold...ish...

Very good review. We have used this park as our GoTo for the South end of the North Coast PCH access for the last 5 years. It is just a tad pricy for the accommodation, but to be expected for FHU on the coast. It has no trees for shade, but the temps make shade as much a negative as it is usually seen as a positive in hotter areas. RVs are prohibited from parking at the Tides, which is sad as they have seating, which encourages all levels of dining. There are some smaller establishments hidden on the bay side of the highway and worth a bit of exploration. It is now full tilt Virus time and you should expect that impact on your visit.

One thing I have noticed when people recommend or say a lot of good things about a place they are getting a kick back or free stay or ? they do it to get followers that’s fine . But when you do these things be up front .. you didn’t mention price why ? .. ( let’s say I had no cell service and I bumped in to a fellow rv’er asked bout any RV parks then he say oh these guys ( you ) on line say this park is a good place not to bad priced I guess ) if u have been going and staying there for a while u obviously have seen the price price increase through the years .. well mention it “ say through the years I’ve been staying the price has gone from x$ to x$ up every year so call a head before u go “ was that so hard now if they get butt hurt cause you said that oh well .. people are relying on your recommendation so be honest and forthright .. I would hate to drive my rig all the way across the valley to see what they charge and they probably hope that well since I’m there might as well stay there .. sorry Charlie no dice and then I would be writing you a Very strong worded reply .. Didn’t anyone take creative writing in high school ?? Little things matter .. but if your reputation is worth a few kickbacks or free stays hey it’s a free country... 😐

I can hear where you are coming from... but we have a rule, if we don't like a park, we don't review it. We only talk about parks we like. Our integrity is very important to us, if we got free nights, a discount (or anything of value for that matter) as part of reviewing a park we would certainly mention that (we don't). I can also hear what you're saying about price changes etc., but it's so variable we just decided to avoid the subject entirely, and instead give a feel for the park and share a little of our experience. We recommend ALWAYS checking in with a park on the phone or website to see pricing before deciding. Thanks for your comment, it's always good to hear feedback and we may make it clear in our next park video (when we get back on the road) that we get no remuneration or perks when we say good things about a park!

We stayed there three nights the end of January 2020. The day we pulled in it happened to be our 55th anniversary and when I told the desk that at check in she promptly made up a goodie bag including a bottle of sparkling wine. That was the first time that has ever happened in our camping experience. The weather was good but the very local restaurant was closed for vacation, so we walked to the boat launch area and took part in the clam chowder celebration. We would go back in a heartbeat.....maybe Tippi Hedron (from The Birds) will show up.

This video on the majestic coast redwoods makes me want to go farther north of Muir Woods. Our family loves California and its forests which calm, educate, and bring joy to our hearts. I subscribed to your channel and cannot wait to watch further videos of your travels. Thank you for subscribing to Max's channel. I started it so his family in Europe had a way of watching him grow. I do not have a catchy title to attract people, but I am glad you came by and watched, enjoyed, and subscribed.

Go to the Telephone museum at 140 New Montgomery St when I was a trucker in the Bay Area 1977-1983 I was sent out all over the region to pick a lot of what you're going to see up.
