I tried making this recipe about 2 weeks ago (my first time making a Michigan sauce, and in a slow cooker), then last week , on the way back from a doctor's appointment in Burlington , we stopped by McSweeny's (on RT9), and found out that what I had made was very close to what they serve. With only 2 of us in the house hold, I only have to make half or less of the recipe each time.

What kind of chilli powder do u use? Is it McCormick ordinal chilli seasoning?

My mom talked a Coney Dog stand out of their sauce recipe on the last day before they sold the business. I don't know if it was a total or partial replacement for hamburger, but it used ground beef heart in there.

Going by what you made here, I'd say that is more so a syrup concentrate than just a simple syrup. From my experience, it's best to boil the strawberries along with equal parts sugar and water, then summer for 10+ minutes, then strain. If it's too thin you can keep it simmering for longer, but keep in mind that it will thicken some after cooking off. But I don't know which recipe you were following so I can't be completely sure.
