I assume the white king Boo from the Mario games is the boss of the Boos in Bowser's army, while the Luigi's Mansion king Boo is a different one unrelated to Bowser

I go with the theory that when king boo becomes powerful or gets a gem for his crown that it changes his appearance as a side effect of becoming more powerful than usual. But normally without the gem he just looks like the goofy king boo that Mario can usually deal with

My theory is that when king boo doesn't wanna be full evil and more like petty bad he will take the jewel out of the crown but when he feels like being pure evil the jewel goes in,like a night at boo's opera,no jewel,no big evil but with Luigi's mansion 2, HE DESTROYED THE F###ING MOON (do you get the picture?)
