Hi there! Psychology is offered at many universities across South Africa not just in Cape Town :). In terms of the course, at UCT specifically, the available courses cover the department's four principal areas of expertise: Social psychology, Developmental psychology, Clinical psychology and Cognitive and Neuro-psychology.

Hi Loyiso, i hope you are well. Just wanted to ask what subjects you took in Highschool and what subjects do you think make someone's application look more appealing for psychology.

Hey! I'm well thank you! I hope you are too :). I took: History, Bio, Dance Studies, Dramatic Arts, Maths Lit, Afrikaans, English, and Life orientation. In terms of the application, I think it would be good to have Bio/Life Sciences as you will have some courses that have to do with the brain, etc in Psych :). I'd also recommend having pure maths, but if not, it wouldn't be the end of the world :)

Hey there! Thanks so much for watching my videos, that means so much to me🥺💕. Becoming a child psychologist in South Africa is a rewarding but lengthy journey. It usually takes around 10 to 15 years or more of education and training. Here's a simplified breakdown: 1. Bachelor's Degree: 3 years 2. Honours Degree: 1 year 3. Master's Degree: 1/2 years (2 at UCT) 4. Internship/Practical Training: 1-2 years (You will be practising as an intern psychologist at this point) 5. Community Service: about 1 year (This is a mandatory step before you can . Community service usually involves working in public health facilities, schools, or other community settings, providing psychological services under supervision.) 6. Doctoral Degree: 4-6 years 7. Optional Post-Doctoral Training: about 1 year These timelines can vary based on individual circumstances and program availability. 💓
