Wow what a beautiful film, thanks Neal for sharing your story and to the producing team for presenting this valuable piece of cultural information. Fire dancing - to dance with fire, what an artform.

How does the flame stay on for so long, especially on the whip? And when you do faster rotations it lets out sparks? So many questions XD
@Energy-Entertainments Жыл бұрын
The whips are made very well with tightly wrapped kevlar. The sparks are titanium.

Well interesting story but we all know that Uluao Letuli from American Samoa invented the first siva afi or fire knife dance in 1946 and performed the siva afi in San Francisco. We have siva afi ever since. As for the Nifo Oti Kata for Warriors, that was done during the Tongan occupation of Samoa in the mid 16th Century when the Tunu ma Fata twins invented the Nifo Oti weapon to repel the Tongan invaders. The Kata performed by the deft Samoan Toa welding the Nifo Oti which has morphed in some elemental degree into the Siva Afi of today. A footage of the Samoan Nifo Oti group Siva or Kata is evidenced in archival New Zealand Footages in 1926 kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWK0dYevgsmcoLs in 1 hour, 17minutes, and 30 seconds, into the footage.
