Got that thing packed full time to move on to the big cart !

Back in the day we only had mainly Snap-on n Craftsman. Never went in tool debit. Now we have many choices. I own Snap-on, Craftsman, Gear Wrench, HF(Icon, Pittsburgh), DeWalt, Proton etc. Tools make money not boxes. I now have a US General 56", 2 smaller Craftsman n I just purchased the larger side locker. Down the road I will purchase an other 56 or 42 US General. No tool debt ever.

It’s from the 80s, bought it off Facebook marketplace.

Must be in a shop with decent people. everyone from where I'm from they hire people if it's not locked in your cart there gonna use it and never put it back. that Milwaukee charger would be the first thing taken and they guy probably wouldn't even have Milwaukee tools smh. Nice setup though.

Starting an apprenticeship with CAT as a heavy duty diesel tech soon, any tips for a beginner? Ive worked on tons of light and medium duty vehicles but never heavy equipment. I have basic hand tools besides a huge variety in wrenches. what should i invest in at first? or invest in the very beginning? I have my own tools of course ive collected working on light and medium duty (heavy duty pickup trucks) vehicles, but their supposed to give me either a cart or a box with 3K equivalent of starter tools (not specified). Thanks for the video.

Nothing special, like anything work hard and put in your time you’ll be just fine. All nuts and bolts. For tooling I think asking around the shop seeing what everybody has to say about specifics.

That double sided square drive socket that’s 3/4”x13/16” is a budd wheel socket, it’s not retarded, it’s actually super handy to have if you’re really working on big trucks and not just collecting tools to look cool on KZbin.

I worked in the mechanic field for 23 years & I never had a tool payment. I have 90% Snap On Tools, I got a lot of my tools over my career from prior mechanics who left the field they knew I could buy their whole box out with cash.

I agree with the ratchet comment I had a bunch of gear wrench ratchets first starting out and they didn’t fail me at all but when we finally go a snap on truck and got a hold of a few 3/8 snap on ratchets and a 1/2 ratchet yeah night and day difference but BUT I will say the gear wrench ratchets served me well can’t complain

i bought the exact same box off some schmuck who sold it to me for 45$, only 6 months old. starting out with a socket set, an oil filter wrench, and a 1/2 inch impact lol. literally just starting out as an express lube tech. 0 need to buy a massive toolbox if i'm just doing oil changes and tire rotations rn
@mikescot1949 ай бұрын
17:02, it's for Bud wheel's. The left side -i think, the lug nuts go left hand tight in the rear for the duley for the outer nut which rides on a Lug-Stud with a sqaure end. That is why that socket is Sqaure. My Harbor freight Pittsburgh set is the same. And is why i got it. Also the price point.

I wanna go into diesel from Automotive any advice?
@ZeroHorsePower9 ай бұрын
Never worked automotive but at the end of the day it’s still nuts and bolts! Depends what avenue in the industry you take but generally I’d say same shit, larger sizes. If you make the jump you’ll figure out quick what you need to pick up. If you’re interested in making the jump go for it and see what you think!
@edbuckley16706 ай бұрын
You need some bigger tools 3/4 inch gun and sockets and then 1 inch gun for things like cutting edges bigger prybars and breaker bars.feld work can suck in the cold and when you and your tools are getting rained on.its hard and dirty but pays a bit better.
@LouisCapps-p3zАй бұрын
Great advice and stay off the tool trucks. Good luck 🤞
The square socket is for Budd lug nuts (showing my age I guess lol) one side is regular thread and the other side is left hand thread. Don't see them much anymore tho

The square 3/4 socket is for the old Budd nut wheel lug nuts. The inner is the the square the outer is a 1 1/2. The Budd system was famous for the wheel studs breaking and your drive axle wheels passing you on freeway.
