Good Day, Do you run your water pump 24hrs a day? I saw that you installed a timer but never stated what you set it for. I am ready to build but can't seem to find anyone saying if the pump needs to go 24hrs or not. I would like to learn how to incorporate a 12V battery and solar panel into the equation. Thank you

Can you comment on root growth in say, strawberries, and by this I mean, do mature roots clog the water flow in 2" Wye's? There is a 3" x 3" x 2" also available.

Very straightforward build, definitely one of if not the best I've come across so far for a PVC build that doesn't require super heavy duty fabrication and construction.

So this is not a hydroponic system. Its called aeroponics, and requires constant water flow. Very expensive to run. You can't let the roots dry, or the shock will kill the plants.
@t.williamschmidt721
@t.williamschmidt721 3 ай бұрын
Yes, aeroponics, but not NFT, which IS continuous. 15 mins on and 45 off works just fine in all tower systems.
@Holistic-Nick
@Holistic-Nick 2 ай бұрын
Why is it expensive to run?
@hellogoodbye3129
@hellogoodbye3129 2 ай бұрын
@@Holistic-Nick because of the power consumption. Between lights and pumps it's a bit. You can used recycled parts to keep cost down and use solar/wind to lower the power cost. But is a big investment and alot of work for what it is. Super self sufficient though. Not as efficient as the grocery store, but it's yours.

How is the water supposed to hit the net cup when it is so far away from the main down pipe?
@whatsgrowinon3590
@whatsgrowinon3590 Жыл бұрын
Good question, I use a spacer on the top brackets that angles the tower slightly away from the wall. This makes the nutrients run down the front of the tower. Once roots are established they’ll fill up the pipes so no worries there. I usually bring seedlings on on a sunny windowsill until roots form and you can see them coming out of the rock wall this means they’ll easily receive the nutrients.

Hey Kevin, I position my towers so the water runs down the front face of the pipe using a spacer. I have germinated seeds in the tower before but I recommend germinating seeds first on a warm windowsill then they’ll go mad!

Hey Larry, you can quite easily build yourself a stand with some mdf or plywood. The weight of the reservoir will easily counterweight the weight of the plants

Thank you for your video and help. How much water should be in the tank? In other words, how do I calculate the size of the tank in terms of litres of water, if I have two columns or four columns?
@goodgoat3096
@goodgoat3096 2 жыл бұрын
You can't have too much water and if you gave too little you will be constantly checking the water level. Once the plants get larger they can drink a substantial amount of water and the pump MUST stay submerged. It's quite easy.

2" in lame, non-metric countries. Personally, I think 3" would provide more room for big roots, especially 3" x 3" x 2" wye's.
