Is there any difference between hockey skates and regular freeride skates? I have seen lost of people using hockey skates now.
@SkateWithJ3 жыл бұрын
In general, hockey skates are lighter and faster but require more skills to skate. You can turn, stop, maneuver faster with advanced skills since they are made for quick-paced hockey games. They can transfer all your strides to the ground without losing much power. On the other hand, they didn't absorb much vibration from cracks and bumps on the roads. You will have to carefully choose more flat pavements if you use them for urban skating. I wouldn't recommend hockey skates for beginners unless you want to play hockey directly. Get a pair of hockey skates once you improve as an advanced skater. You would love how fast and nimble you can skate!

I have never skated in San Francisco but I have heard of a weekly skate. How difficult is the route? How long is it? I consider myself a beginner. Any other places beginner-friendly?
@SkateWithJ3 жыл бұрын
You can join Tuesday Night Skate first. It is a round trip around 7 miles from Aquatic Park to Oracle Park. The pavements are smooth and flat, and it's perfect for beginners. You can search "Tuesday Night Skate!" and "The Original Friday Night Skate" on Facebook for more info. The Friday night skate will be more challenged. You can join after you are more confident in urban skating. They are all weekly events in San Francisco. Skatin' place at Golden Gate Park, Kennedy Drive & 6th Avenue, is a beginner-friendly spot for anyone to start!
