Ive never felt more seen than at 27:05 . Im trying my damnest to teach my daughters Spanish (while at the same time learning myself) so that they dont have to go through what i am going through now. Everyday is like swimming upstream trying to do this in an english speaking country, with her english-only speaking other half of the family with english speaking movies/etc.. Some days i just want to give up tbh. My parents did with me. But then that would be me giving up on them too. Thank you thank you for this movie. I too will visit the motherland in the future.

The matter of fact is that whiter the place, safer it is in EU. All those migrants bring a ton of trouble so let’s not lie about it just to be woke or politically correct. Besides, you have no problem there because you blend in. You’re ethnically not a target since you’re not East Asian nor blue eyes while person.

On September 7th 1980 I was born in santa tecla. My mother gave mi up for adoption. My biological name is Oscar Armando Sanchez. I was the the hogar adalberto guirola when I was adopted by a couple from Ohio. The people the history what is happening politically en el salvador are extremely important to mi.i have been taking trip back home since 2010. Sometimes staying for three months. I would like to thank you will for you documentary. It took mi home for a brief moment. It is important to never forget where we come from and where we are today. When we can we should always give back to a country and culture that has given us so much. Once again will thank you for a great reminder. Sincerely Andrew Edmondson

Wow dude way to be ungratful to the people who helped you out the mud and blame them for not understanding what seemed to me like clear directions. I think connecting to our roots is important, but this seems disingenuous.

Great video and sorry for your loss. Like you, my family and I moved to California in the late 70's. Because of work, I returned to El Salvador, approximately 6 years ago and wow! What a great experience. The surf was great, the food was great, everything has changed so much. I'm planning on purchasing property there now and live there at least 6 months out of the year. Anyway, great video again and thanks for sharing.

I agree with you #MakeItMakeSense. When we started back to the office I was told by my supervisor to avoid getting up from seat to collaborate with ppl, we should really be doing it over teams cause it’s a “waste of time and can be seen as a disturbance” a said “why am I here?” I confirmed with her …so even in the office I am to ask ppl questions over messenger and not face to face? She said “yes” I. Hate. It. Here. 🤡

Its madness, and the stubborness of leaders is SO triggering. Nothing gets me so worked up than this subject and tone-deaf conversations about work. It makes no sense, I would honestly rather they come out and just say "we want people to quit without having to do layoffs" or "our investors are the banks, and the banks need commercial real estate to be occupied"... but just because "collaboration" drives me nuts.

I just came back from Marseille 2 days ago & I speak French even though it’s kinda of broken but everyone was super friendly to me I was out until 4 am… I made friends with some Francophones & I was walking around and cycling whilst wearing my jewellery no one seemed phased …. It can’t be any worse than some areas of London in my opinion. I would speak French more at night to blend in and not stand out. I can tell it’s a lovely city that has two sides. Nothing that a bit of street smarts can’t take care of. I would love to visit again it’s definitely got some rough edges but it has style for sure 👌🏾🇫🇷

I love this video. Makes me think of the conversations I use to have with my Grandpa talking about his life and his cow and how he would take his cow to pasture and work the “Milpas”. Stories from my dad how he use to work as a kid and couldn’t finish school but still taught himself to read. We come from humble beginnings and we need to pass these stories on to the generations that come after us so they understand their roots and where they came from.

my condolences to you and your family on your abuelo's passing. im currently in el salvador on a work trip (first visit) and cannot wait to tell my friends about my time here. the people are some kindest people i've met, there seems to be more hope now than before given how safe the country is with so many of the gangsters behind bars. whenever el salvador comes up in conversation i always think fondly and spread the awareness of how beautiful this land is.

About 28, years after i left El Salvador, since 1995 i was in Shulton, Usulutan, i couldn't believe how everything was changed, not just the political environment, i mean the country, our lands where we grew up everything was desappear, our chocitas no more, the train rail no more, many different trees, many people emigrate, just few parents relatives, and friends still living there, but everything change, ...a radical change,

I am glad you were born outside the country. El Salvador is still a country with major problems. It seems its people can not find the roots of their own problems. It's not the lack of conscience and great stamina to fight against the odds, it's the cast system, division of classes and personal inferiorty complex due to their governments' systems. I hope one day El Salvador wakes up smelling the aroma of the land and sees a bright future in the horizon.😢
