Great tip. I've got my 7 year old daughter in martial arts and she loves it but I'm not sure she is learning much. You have a school in Vegas?

Knowing that all of these pieces of wood are designed to just snap under the smallest amounts of pressure. It makes me wonder if there was a time where genuine wood was ever snapped without being made to crumble. Is that how the tradition started?
@kronus096 күн бұрын
I think these types of boards everyone have been using have just become popular to use within the past 5 years. Prior to that, every school I have been a part of only used those particular boards for the demo team, children under a certain age, and to practice techniques for accuracy. There was various board thickness depending on the individuals skill level. The older boards seemed to require actual power and precision to break, and if it seemed too easy, the masters would double, triple, or quadruple the boards to test your power or change the hold to make it a speed break. In addition to this, we used to go to Lowes or another store that sold wood planks to cut our boards and purchase bricks for breaking. Nowadays, schools order various boards from vendors to cut costs, and you don't know what type of wood or materials they are made of. Not to take anything away from the video or their techniques because they are doing some pretty good kicking, it looks like they are using these boards to show technique, not for power.

@zf3467 Martial Arts is respect, discipline, fitness, self-defense, and technique. Kids like that usually just have technique, and in my experience, not even good technique. 😒 It is a shame what martial arts is becoming.
