You got a chaparral engine on the ol girl 340 or 440?
@rustysteve8545Күн бұрын
I believe it is a 292. My grandpa bought it new (back in the 70's) and never used it in one of his Arctic Cat snowmobiles, so gave it to me.

@rustysteve8545 their company is really interesting I picked up a 440 air cooled chaparral so went down the rabit hole. they liquidated in 1975 so there's a lot of new old stock engines floating around even to this day. plan on tossing the 440 in a really beat up Honda Odyssey fl250. The chaparral company was really innovative. were some of the first people to use in front suspension and used aluminum tunnels. I think that was done in 1973 looks similar to the 90s Polaris suspension. But the ifs chaparral are rare. But that go cart you and your grandpa made us a sweety. I also enjoy hearing the story about them. My dad tells me stories about when he was a kid he talked about this Eskimo snowmobile that he put a Polaris engine in. I would like to get it out of the loft at my uncle's ranch.l it's probably sat up there 40 years.

This video is so wholesome! Thanks for sharing. Son and Father build 🤝🏼 my dad taught me about cars from when I was around 10. Great memories. This is encouraging to see a Parisienne go through a cool build! Gives me hope for mine

Yah, I had a bunch of other projects I was working on and when my youngest son said he really wanted to do this project, well you don't usually get a chance like that, especially when he was 19. So the other projects got put on hold for over a year and we dove in. I'll have to watch some of your other videos. We used to have 03 Marauder, all my 3 boys drove it to high school! It was my favorite car... until my Focus ST inched it out. Totally different cars though.

Sled is a 1969
@rustysteve85459 ай бұрын
I remember being told... years ago, one was a 1967 and one a 1968 (I have two). I do think he had a 1969 also. I can't figure it out myself. One clue I used was the registration. It was good for 3 years back then. So working backwards from 71-74 (what is on the hood), would it be 67-70? or 68-71? 69 doesn't seem to fit using the registration math. I have the registration card from it, from 1974? as it says it expires in Feb 1977. Model P17H (17 HP Hirth). Its a bit of a mystery to me. I'm going to take a look the reg sticker on the hood again. Maybe I can see the one underneath. But maybe there is something obvious about the sled itself that dates it. I'm guessing that's what you used. Thanks for watching and the comment! Let me know what makes it a 69.

I'm thinking 1 or 2 more episodes and it will be on the road! I know my son is past ready for that time. We got the new serpentine belt on this am. The new PS pump (the other "new" one was leaking) This belt is 1/2 inch longer, as the new PS pump mounted in the correct bracket holes this time. I'm glad you tuned in!

Great video Rusty, you are the definition of a man. Really enjoyed this video I’m gonna learn how to weld this year. So I can try and be awesome like you, thanks again great video
@rustysteve854510 ай бұрын
Yes... do it! Wire feed (MIG) is easy. It's my go to welder. I ended up buying a Miller, more $ but I do a lot of welding and its been a great unit. TIG welding takes more practice and is a bit of an art. I learned welding with a stick welder when I was about 12. I'm glade you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the compliments!!
