They were entirely wrong. They, being the fake news media and the uniparty socialists. We're still the Tea Party, also known as MAGA.

the absolute hilarity of people trying to compare stuff from west wing and newsroom to trump gets me every time. everyone who thinks trump is some far right wing crazy guy just show how little they know of politics. trump is a 90s democrat. all his policies and talking points are from 90s democrats. that is because that is who he hung out with when he became largely successful. trump is not right wing, he is center-left, and successfully competing as a republican. think about that for a while... you think trump is right wing, or far right, are not paying attention to him, or do not know even the recent history of politics for the US. democrats in the 80s and 90s were against expanding immigration because even then they knew it drove down the wages of everyone from the upper middle class on down. then wall street said, hey, maybe if we gave to democrats AND republicans, we can get more of what we want enacted as law. it turns out, democrats were starving for money and when that shift happened in the late 90s and early 2000s with the war on terror, it turns out democrats were very receptive to wall streets message, especially on illegal immigrants.

I've read the Tea Party was started by the Koch brothers; hardly a middle class grassroots movement.

here's the only disagreement i'll make with this assessment: the tea party is exactly what republicans were creating with all of their terrible policies. it wasn't shocking, it was inevitable.

Saying the tea party movement was a middle class movement is being very charitable. It wasn’t spontaneous. It was planned by the wealthy.

and here in 2024. the "tea party" is the left side ...... The machine is always the same just move to the winning party (now lost, and the machine will try to move back to right after this)

It’s amazing how many of these comments are unaware that the tea party won senate and house control in 2010, and took over the Republican Party fully well before Trump became President. That’s literally how Mitch McConnell rose to power in 2010 when the tea party won the midterms. It’s appalling how the majority of the population are unaware of such an event

Because it ''looks right'' Joe Biden is going to give the Nuclear Codes to Trump without a fight. They are actually going to allow this Convicted Felon BACK into the oval office because he's been able to elude law enforcement and pay the right people and threaten the rest. They're going to let him back in.

All the comments about Trump here are woefully missing the point. Trump as a candidate is actually further to the left of most traditional Republicans. The Tea party in the clip was dangerous because they were using extreme versions of the initial policy positions that made these parties popular in the first place, and that much more aptly describes where we standing with the left right now. People like RFK, Gabbert, and to a lesser degree Bernie Sanders being chased out of relevancy or the party all together for failing the new left purity test in policy is EXACTLY what is happening in this clip to the right.

The Tea party was an attempt to bring cohesion and direction and vision to a party that was seemingly becoming irrelevant during the Obama era. They did radicalize the party and just look at the fruits of that radicalization, they have sent the Dems scrambling for the last 3 election cycles. It can't be overstated what a massive success the tea party was for Republicans. Democrats had their own "tea party" movement that was an authentic populist left wing economic movement in 2016 that delivered vision and passion to a party absent of vision post-Obama era, but the DNC and party elites snuffed it out in its cradle in the name of protecting the donor and consultant class and party leadership.

News flash boys and girls, our economic system is based on free enterprise and capitalism...unfortunately, our educational system is run by socialists (as are our churches), who teach "love what you do". Money is the most important thing, anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you. Those with the money, make the rules. Don't like that, move to a socialists country, their people come here for a better life!
