As a student in these seminars during the late 90s, I can tell from experience that Sensei Kasuya has some good points that aren't emphasized by many other masters. I learned an enormous amount of karate from this man, just from attending a couple of his seminars.

The highest technique in karate is still tsuki,,,, even in real street fight still effective,,,,, i saw my best friend using tgis jodan tsuki in street fight it only take 1 second to put the opponent down( his style karate kyokunshinkai)

Thanks for your response. Of course, I'm not so sure of his name, either. However, as somebody wrote the opponent is Mr. Kurasako who is now JKA headquarter master instructor, I just gave my different impression. Judging from the image of the bout, the referee should be Mr. Kanazawa, the legendary JKA champion who started SKI. Mr. Kasuya later separated to start his own World Shotokan International, right? I still think it is Mr. Omura, who is also a great JKA master teaching now in Thailand.

I don't know who it is from that long ago and the film is not too clear. However this is almost certainly an SKI Japan championship. Therefore I doubt very much it will be any JKA opponent, only SKI.

Personalmente conozco la fortaleza de este hombre, en un seminario que tome por allá del 94 en una demostración golpeo mi traquea con haito e interrumpió mi respiración momentáneamente, sin duda uno de los mejores Karatecas que existen un fuera de serie!!

I've seen and trained with Kasuya Sensei a lot. IMHO he is just as good at kata as he is at kumite. He's a well rounded karateka that doesn't just live by his reputation but by his daily actions.

Isn't the opponent not Kurasako Sensei but Omura Sensei ?

Kasuya Sensei with his flexible style of fighting and teaching is in my opinion a perfect example for excellent traditional karate in modern times - not stif like the ITKF style and not just of same few techniques like now in the JKA were 90% is Gyaku Tsuki. Its always great to watch and learn from him.

I met him couple of times. Last time I saw him was in chicago. he gave me 2nd degree black belt. his technique is incredible! Good fighting spirit!
