young man why didn't your videos find me many years ago?😁😁😁 As I've mentioned in previous complementary comments, I play bass but I have very little musical ability, bad hearing and I'm almost Tone deaf and some bass lessons are just too complicated and all I want is a chord structure and patterns and that's what your videos provide. The reason for this comment is to say how helpful it is to see something like D/F# means it's a d chord with an F# note. I have tried to play along with a friend to a few numbers starting several months ago and I thought it meant play a day on the first beat and an F shop almost straight after. My friend realised what I was doing and pointed out what it meant and his terminology was that the F sharp dominates the sound from a base point of view and that I should always play the F# or whatever was in the equivalent position on another chord I must admit when I played the F# or equivalent it generally sounded good And if I play D or equivalent. it just didn't sound right. So going back to your comment is it the case that sometimes you can play D And it will sound okay but generally the F# sounds better and I think sometimes it's part of a descending or ascending chromatic sequence say G, D/F# F in which case it's not surprising that F# wins the day

This song reminds me of my mom‘s mom, which is my grandma. She died of leukemia, which is an aggressive form of cancer. To be specific, the occurred last year in November.

Great lesson. Do you have the music notation for the melody you are singing? We are using / playing "Just A Closer Walk" for my mother's internment in July.
