Great interview! I can't believe you don't have 10M views!

As a man with a science degree working in the IT field, I really loved _Lessons in Chemistry_ . Sadly, IT is still a predominantly male career. Though I've worked with some exceptional women, I'd love to see the pattern change. The book really made me wonder how much I have reinforced gender stereotypes or sexist behavior. It's a reminder to men to speak up, even among themselves, when someone uses gender-exclusive language, unduly disparages a female colleague, or makes crass remarks. I'm certainly guilty of having not spoken up before. On a more positive note, I've learned a new way to make coffee!

Rosalind franklin was not forgotten. There is a Rosalind Franklin University in the Chicago area and I worked there before it carried that name. And after.

Indeed. She was a pioneer in x-ray crystallography, and the discovery of DNA would not have been possible without her. James Watson's book was exceptionally sexist, and has not withstood the test of time very well.

Pencils are FORBIDDEN in labs .. you must always write in ink and only use a single strike through line to retract something. It's imperative that everything is recorded, for better or for worse. No erasing!!!

This is what stuck with you from the book? I think you missed the point.

Thanks for this Ms. Mitchell. I just finished “Playing Through the Pain” and it made me wistful for full episodes of this show. Is there anyway to get those? Thanks for all your work.

Hello. My apologies for not seeing this comment. (I must do better at that..!) I may upload the whole episode as part of my digital archive updating... it's on the list. If you would like to be on my mailing list for when I do, and other things I'm working on including a podcast/video series connecting with previous guests/their families etc... please go to www.JaneMitchellOneOnOne.com. that's also a better direct contact, too. Thank you so much for your note. Cammy was quite an unusual and special guy. I'm honored to have been part of telling his story... back in 1997... and beyond. You might like my book, too. Check out the website. Thank you.

No... this is an excerpt. The whole show is not online. However, if you're interested in more about his father and the family, you can find that on You Tube with One on One Legends: Tony Gwynn. It was produced after Tony Gwynn died in 2014. Also, Tony Jr's story from this episode is in my book at www.JaneMitchellOneOnOne.com Thanks for your interest! Jane

Hello... I realize you made this comment 11 years ago... WOW... I somehow missed so many comments. I don't have it uploaded as of now, but as I'm updating my digital library, that will likely be part of it. For a more direct way to find out/communicate, please go to my website and if you like, join my newsletter -- it will include information about such new uploads and a new podcast/video series in the works, reconnecting with former guests and/or their families. Thank you so much for your comment, and my apologies for not replying sooner. A lot was going on 11 years ago... I had a baby... and this just got overlooked! She's now 11! www.JaneMitchellOneOnOne.com
