I’m 22 years old but I feel like my soul is so old, I only feel at peace when I hear music like this. Mrs. Mahalia Jackson is resting in peace with our lord Jesus Christ….I hope I get to see her when I get up there 🙌🏾

0:45 1:14 1:57 According to what I read, Lana Turner was so affected in that scene that she really cried, and in a very emotional way. I don't know if that was because of Mahalia Jackson's performance, because of personal issues, or because she was very immersed in her character and the scene. However, all his colleagues and staff members were impressed. 😮😢

Mahalia was the OG. The whole style that most pop and r &b singers use came from her. So much of it

I came here to see Mahalia Jackson. Something came up in conversation and I was trying to recall an interview where she spoke about how everyone loved her so much but when they would see her on the street they would talk down to her because she was black. Wonder if any of these children are still around and if they remember the making of this show.

Singing came to Ms. Jackson with the ease of speaking. Her soulfulness was so entrenched in her being that it allowed her to sing with confidence and without much forethought! Her breath control and sense of rhythm was remarkable and God given!❤
