No actual figures or data. This has been studied and the environmental impact of EV's matches that of ICE cars until a couple of years of use at most. Then it's zero emissions and pollution from EVs and more of the same from ICE cars from then on so EVs are much better.

Ford is losing their shirts on EVs because most people don't want one. The Lightening scored badly in hauling tests and the Mocky is an overpriced joke. Now that the democrats are out, new government will give people a choice of what they want to drive and most people want ice cars. America WILL be great again and real democracy means having the ability to choose for yourself.

EV's are not carbon neutral. Studies have shown that cradle to grave CO2 emissions of EV and ICE vehicles are nearly identical. Your comment that EV's don't emit pollutants when driven, totally neglects the catastrophic pollution of mining, purifying, manufacturing and disposal of the batteries with all their nasty chemical contained therein. Not to mention the how the electricity is produced to provide the charging.

This is clearly Big Oil propaganda dressed up as objective science. It fails to point out that the oil industry is a major polluter. Just ask the people in Nigeria who live near oil wells. If we could eliminate oil, we would eliminate half of the world's shipping, which itself is a polluter. 52% of the world's lithium comes from Australia, which does not tolerate the kind of pollution and child pollution described. The statement that EV batteries last only 8-10 years is wrong. EV batteries have a 7-8 year warranty and they last probably 15-20 years. The size and weight of cars has been increasing steadily over the last 50 years. It is strange that this is highlighted as a problem only when EVs appear. EVs are 3-4 times as efficient as ICE cars. Therefore, even with fossil fuel electricity generation, they still have lower CO2 emissions than ICE cars.

There is also the question of how long the car companies can and want to provide software updates. We all know that a smartphone with a 5-year-old OS is a wide open door for errors and hackers. And it is no different with a hardware/software package like an electric car. So how long will BYD, General Motors, Tesla want to provide bug fixes more or less for free? I think after 8 years it will become a cost problem for the manufacturer and then what?

And this is how to make a tendentious misleading material most likely payed by some oil company or car manufacturer! Mix some scientific half truth with pseudo science doubled down with some scary images. Beside the battery an EV car is less polluting to build. Exploiting an EV is way less polluting even if uses cool plant electricity! EV car uses almost 100% efficiency vs gas car less than 50% So you while polluting with gas U also pore cancerous chemicals into the air two fold just because thermal cars is only half efficient, Used car batteries can be recycled 98% And when U start to compare used rubber as pollutant ... as gas cars would not run on rubber tires ... that point U lost me at all.

Yeah, keep spreading the myth that consumers are rejecting the EV in the U.S. The truth is that the U.S. carmakers aren't making the EVs that consumer want at a price they can afford. Tesla is doing very nicely, thank you. In ten years the ICE car will be dead. It already is dead in China and is dying in some European countries.

better stop manufacturing EVs, save the earth, reduce emissions !! always remember what you burn to generate the electricity for the EVs ?? burning anything means there are emissions unless you use only nuclear power to generate electricity but that is not possible.

how come an EV can be cleaner ?? totally scam !! what do you burn to generate the electricity for the EV ?? burning anything means there are emissions, the more electricity you use, more fuel you need to burn in generating the electricity, with all the losses in energy in generating the electricity, transmission to city, charging the battery and then converting the energy back to motor energy, the energy required is a lot more than burning the fuel directly in ICE cars which is most efficient. however if you are talking a country which agreed to use nuclear power in generating the electricity, then EV can be said cleaner, but that is not possible, no country likes to have many nuclear bombs installed in their own soil.

In 2022 the early adopters bought their EVs. Ford would have seen this effect if they looked at Consumer electronics. Then demand drops off to a more steady state level which is the true demand they saw in 2023. That it why, when companies respond to the early boom and ramp up production, they they find themselves a year later stuck with unsold inventory. Now I see in 2024, to compensate I see the car makers stopped most shipments of low end vehicles and the dealer lots are now filled with high ends ICE models that so many buyers do not want or simply cannot afford. But this strategy had moved the price point of ICE vehicles to the same level of EVs. Which takes away that reason for not buying an EV. Unfortunately is also takes away demand for the ICE models and the industry needs the money from ICE sales to pay for the electric conversion. If the industry wants to bring in more cash, though at a lower amount per unit sols. they will need to bring back vehicles in the $25K to 40K price range. The demand for $75K pickups is very small.
@aoeuuaoaouКүн бұрын
Electronic sales generally pick up after early adopters ... if you've designed a good product and have a plan to continue to ramp down the price. Ford didn't bring the value, having lacked vision on BEVs came a decade late to the game, so its going to be rough for them to sort things out and survive.
@aoeuuaoaouКүн бұрын
BTW all that other stuff really has nothing to do with EVs. Moving out of the low price point market has been been a trend for a very long time, and pickup prices had been rising very steeply for years. And it had been working from an accounting standpoint. That's probably why Ford assumed they could get by with the price point they picked for the Lightning. They probably weren't all that wrong, except they didn't get how the competition in the EV space would beat them. Ford probably will be able to move near their target number for the year, but Q3 Cybertruck sales, which the Cybertruck price structure higher than Ford's, was over 16K units.

Even ignoring all the other details like the price of electricity and other things EV's would cause issues with if widely adopted. Think of their value and life span. Most Ev's battery is a third to half the value of the car and there is almost no good reliable way to buy used batteries either. Buying an EV is like buying a ICE car knowing the engine will fall apart in 5-10 years and have to be completely replaced.
