EV's are not carbon neutral. Studies have shown that cradle to grave CO2 emissions of EV and ICE vehicles are nearly identical. Your comment that EV's don't emit pollutants when driven, totally neglects the catastrophic pollution of mining, purifying, manufacturing and disposal of the batteries with all their nasty chemical contained therein. Not to mention the how the electricity is produced to provide the charging.

Even ignoring all the other details like the price of electricity and other things EV's would cause issues with if widely adopted. Think of their value and life span. Most Ev's battery is a third to half the value of the car and there is almost no good reliable way to buy used batteries either. Buying an EV is like buying a ICE car knowing the engine will fall apart in 5-10 years and have to be completely replaced.
